Our core values - care, courage, curiosity, and collaboration - combined with our focus on diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities, are key drivers in our aim to empower everyone to create sustainable solutions.\n\nWe are looking for an R&D Engineer to newly established ABB’s Competence Center in Nashik, India, to contribute to the development of innovative products and technologies within Low Voltage switchgear solutions.\n\nYour role and responsibilities:\nAs an R&D Engineer, you will be an independent contributor in development projects, supporting the full product lifecycle - from concept to implementation and maintenance\n\nContribute to the development of new technologies, products, and solutions by proposing and implementing innovative ideas\n\nExecute engineering tasks across the full lifecycle: requirements, design (2D/3D mechanical for both assembly and parts, including BOM), implementation, testing, and validation\n\nWork independently while collaborating within cross-functional R&D teams\n\nIdentify technical problems and proactively contribute to solutions\n\nApply engineering standards, tools, and best practices to ensure quality and efficiency\n\nEnsure delivery against project targets (quality, time, scope, cost) and manage risks\n\nContribute to product quality improvements and continuous improvement initiatives\n\nDocument technical work (designs, results, reports) in a structured and reusable way\n\nCollaborate with internal stakeholders and actively contribute to team objectives\n\nParticipate in IP creation and support innovation and patent activities\n\nQualifications for the role\nDiploma / Bachelor's / Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.\n\nMinimum 5 years of experience in R&D, product development, or engineering projects in Low Voltage Switchgear.\n\nStrong knowledge of Low Voltage Switchgear systems and IEC 61439-2 standards.\n\nProficiency in engineering design tool i.e SolidWorks and experience with product development processes.\n\nExperience in preparing engineering documentation, including 2D/3D drawings, BOMs, product configurator data, and assembly/engineering instructions.\n\nSolid technical expertise in electrical or mechanical engineering, with the ability to translate customer specifications and Voice of Customer (VoC) into technical solutions.\n\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and engineering calculation skills using mathematical and physical principles.\n\nExcellent communication, collaboration, and English language skills, with the ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional team.\n\nMore about us\nABB Smart Power provides energy distribution solutions for data centers, industrial and manufacturing plants, critical infrastructure and commercial buildings.
