ABB Robotics is a pioneer and one of the leading global industrial robotics companies and has the widest global footprint of any robotics company with presence in 53 countries.\nWithin robotics applications branch we operate in the industries business consisting of the segments:\nGeneral industries\nElectronics\nConsumer industries\nThe Global Solution Center for Consumer industries is located in Huizingen, Belgium and specializes in robot-centric automation solutions for e-commerce, retail, fresh food, non-food and express parcel segments.\nAs part of the Research & Development team at the global solution center you will be directly involved in the development of modular applications that are offered as alone standing solutions or which will be part of larger engineered solutions for ABB end-customers.\nAs a Robotics Engineer you will have the responsibility for the robot scope of one of the R&D projects on the engineering (including robot path planning), validation and meeting the KPI’s.\nThe R&D team works in close cooperation with the product and portfolio management to list the market and product requirements and to implement these in an efficient and economical way.\nThe development team consists of a diverse mix of development functions in robotics, software, vision and controls. In your role you will work specifically on Robot code development for specific application. Further you will work actively with all of the other functions and be expected to actively provide input and feedback on on-going developments.\nTasks\nTranslate market requirements into product requirements;\nWork out the functional design (Robot part of the system);\nPerform the technical analysis in order to design engineering documents like flowcharts, interface specifications and communication diagrams;\nDefine automation components (hardware, sensors and actuators) which are required to control the robot gripper and other peripherals;\nCarry out tests in context of “Proof of Concept” set-ups;\nResponsible for robot code development (ABB Robot Studio) and third party path planners;\nBesides the focus on Robot and robot software acquire basic knowledge on the C# .NET software tools;\nDefine and write test plans;\nCoordinate supplier prototype testing;\nPerform in-house simulation and in-house commissioning in our workshop;\nExecute on-site commissioning for pilots;\nValidate test plans and contribute to the execution of integration tests;\nWrite documentation and provide training.\nProfile\nAn Engineering degree in electromechanics, electronics or automation (or equivalent by experience);\nStrong mechanical reasoning capabilities to visualize work output;\nExperience with robot programming, in particular Rapid is an asset;\nWilling to follow a training programs within our Training Academy regarding our Robotics standard;\nSolution, pragmatic and hands-on mindset;\nDetail oriented with good analytical and problem-solving skills;\nTeam player;\nAble to take framework constraints into account and build creative solutions;\nOn site presence required in Huizingen with 10 to 15% traveling abroad;\nFluent in Dutch or French with a good knowledge of English.\nWe value people from different backgrounds.
