Join us and help run what runs the world.\nThis position reports to:\nChapter Lead - Electromechanical Design Control Products Germany__\nThe work model for the role is: hybrid / #LI-Hybrid\nKey responsibilities\nAs an R&D Engineer, you will drive development & care activities for electromechanical switching devices within the Agile Unit Load Control based in Heidelberg, Germany. Reporting to the Chapter Leader Electromechanical Design Module Control Products, you will implement advanced design solutions for the automated manufacturing of plastic and metallic parts as well as assemblies and complete devices, with a particular focus on Manual Motor Starters and Overload Relays.\nYou will join a highly motivated Agile Team which is committed to shape ABB’s future and delivering innovative solutions that will help our customers to improve efficiency and sustainability.\nYou will be mainly accountable for:\nDevelopment and design of electromechanical components and assemblies for low-voltage switching devices \nConduct feasibility studies and develop product and solution concepts while applying simulation tools \nLead and support R&D projects in accordance with the Stage-Gate model \nExecute optimization projects to improve product quality and customer satisfaction \nCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders as well as suppliers to define and refine requirements \nCreate validation plans in line with global and ABB standard requirements and coordinate activities with the Center of Excellences Certification & Testing \nTake product responsibility regarding time, cost, and quality targets \nGenerate ideas for implementing eco-design concepts and promote a sustainability mindset \nQualifications for the role\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics \nPreferably 3-5 years of experience in the design of injection-molded plastic and stamped metal parts, as well as experience with prototyping methods such as 3D printing \nExperience with low-voltage products and related UL/IEC standards is desirable as well as collaboration with certification bodies \nKnowledge of PTC Creo, Windchill PLM, MS Office, and simulation tools is an advantage \nTeam player with strong communication skills to coordinate implementations with cross-functional teams and manufacturing units considering local and global stakeholders \nAbility to understand customer needs and translate them into manufacturable solutions \nAbility to work independently and proactively \nWillingness to travel internationally on an occasional basis (~10%) \nBusiness-fluent English and fluent German, both written and spoken communication \nBenefits\nCanteen\nEmployee Assistance Program\nFlexible Workpractices\nEmployee Share Acquisition Plan\nPlease note: in the case of equal suitability, people with severe disabilities and their equals are given preference.\nABB AG\n+49 (0) 621 381 3500\nBuilding a cleaner, smarter future takes all kinds of minds: the curious, the courageous, and the creative.
