Join us and help run what runs the world.\nThis position reports to:\nChapter Lead__\nAs an R&D Senior Engineer, you will leverage your technical expertise to validate and customize OEM single-phase and three-phase low-voltage Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), ensuring they meet the requirements of mission-critical power protection applications and market specifications.\nReporting to R&D Hardware Chapter Lead, based in Quartino Switzerland, you will contribute significantly to initiatives related to ABB’s Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) products\nThe work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-hybrid\nLocation: Quartino Switzerland\nYou will be mainly accountable for:\nLead technical validation and customization of OEM 1ph and 3ph low voltage Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS), as well as batteries and accessories.\nManage test partners (UL, Intertek, Dekra, Eurofins, etc.) to scope and plan test programs to demonstrate compliance with applicable IEC or UL standards.\nManage the technical specifications of assigned products and support the Product Manager in developing the business case for product development.\nDrive root cause analysis and corrective actions related to issues found during qualification testing, as well as issues identified at customer sites.\nMaintain awareness of state-of-the-art technologies and collaborate with the research center in Switzerland and other ABB stakeholders to identify potential new UPS technologies.\n\nQualifications for the Role:\nMaster’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, along with more than five years of professional experience in electrical engineering.\nMust have experience working with power electronic systems\nExperience in the use of various measuring equipment in a laboratory environment.\nKnowledge of product regulations and standards, including IEC and UL.\nExperience working with external laboratories and certification bodies.\nKnowledge of ECNs (Engineering Change Notifications), BOMs (Bills of Materials), and documentation systems.\nExperience with failure investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).\nKnowledge of and experience with Agile methodology is an advantage.\nFluent in English, both spoken and written.\nMore about us\nABB Smart Power provides energy distribution solutions for data centers, industrial and manufacturing plants, critical infrastructure and commercial buildings.
