You will contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of enterprise-grade industrial automation software, supporting next-generation SCADA, HMI, communication, and digital engineering platforms.\nWorking as part of a collaborative Agile engineering team, you will develop scalable software solutions using C++, .NET/C#, ASP.NET Core, Angular/React, and modern cloud technologies while partnering with Product Management, Solution Architects, Test Engineering, and Domain Experts to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance industrial software.\nThis role is contributing to the Energy Industries - Research & Development organization in Bangalore, India.\nThe work model for the role is: Hybrid\nYou will be mainly accountable for\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade industrial automation applications using C++, .NET/C#, ASP.NET Core, Angular/React, and modern engineering practices, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-quality software delivery.\nDevelop and support SCADA, HMI, historian, and industrial communication solutions by integrating PLCs, RTUs, Flow Computers, and third-party systems using protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, IEC 60870-5-104, and DNP3, while optimizing system performance and reliability.\nCollaborate with Product Management, Architects, Test Engineering, and cross-functional teams to deliver software through Agile methodologies, implement CI/CD practices, leverage AI-assisted development tools, and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and customer deployments.\nDrive engineering excellence by adopting software development best practices, performing root cause analysis, improving cybersecurity, enhancing application performance, maintaining technical documentation, and contributing to continuous innovation and product improvements.\nQualifications for the Role\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.\n5-10 years of experience in industrial automation software development using C++, .NET/C#, ASP.NET Core, Web APIs, and modern enterprise application development practices.\nStrong experience with Angular or React, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, object-oriented programming, and enterprise software architecture.\nKnowledge of SCADA, HMI, historian systems, industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3), Windows Server environments, and Industrial Cybersecurity principles (IEC 62443) is preferred.\nExposure to Microsoft Azure or AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, cloud-hosted industrial solutions, and AI-assisted software development tools is considered an advantage.\nUnderstanding of process automation domains such as Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Power Generation, or Water industries, along with high-availability and disaster recovery architectures, is desirable.\nStrong analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in Agile teams while continuously learning emerging technologies and engineering best practices.\nMore About Us\nABB's Energy Industries business enables safe, smart, and sustainable operations across the oil & gas, chemicals, life sciences, power generation, and water sectors.
