Join us and help run what runs the world.\nThis position reports to:\nTeam Leader__\nLead the delivery of after-sales support for ABB Distributed Control Systems (DCS), providing senior-level remote and on-site technical expertise across breakdown recovery, preventative maintenance, commissioning, system modification and lifecycle services. You'll have opportunities to broaden your technical knowledge, work with industry-leading automation technology and contribute to solving complex operational challenges.\nYour Role and Responsibilities\nIn this role, you'll help customers maximise the performance and reliability of their control systems by delivering expert field service and technical guidance.\nDeliver expert field service support for ABB DCS systems, including preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, system modifications, commissioning and lifecycle services.\nAct as the senior technical escalation point, leading complex fault finding, root-cause analysis, recovery activities and technical risk assessments.\nProvide advanced on-site, remote and out-of-hours technical support while ensuring safe, high-quality service delivery.\nManage customer service activities and maintenance contract obligations, building trusted relationships and providing clear technical guidance and recommendations.\nConduct lifecycle audits, feasibility studies and technical assessments, identifying improvement opportunities and supporting system evolution.\nPrepare accurate technical reports, service documentation, quotations support and recommendations, while identifying opportunities for additional service and lifecycle solutions.\nCoach and mentor engineers, deliver technical training, and share best practices, troubleshooting methods and lessons learned across the service organisation.\nOperate in accordance with ABB's Code of Conduct and all health, safety and environmental requirements, including participation in the on-call rota and travel throughout the UK and occasionally overseas.\nWork model: home-office based (#LI-remote) with extensive travel through mainland UK and occasional overseas.\nQualifications for the Role\nDegree-qualified in Engineering (BSc) or able to demonstrate equivalent engineering competence.\nExtensive experience in process control engineering, including customer-site support, maintenance, commissioning, fault finding and complex technical troubleshooting.\nProven ability to work independently while supporting and developing others.\nExpert working knowledge of at least one Distributed Control System (DCS), with the ability to broaden expertise through training and practical application.\nStrong understanding of process control principles and industries reliant on industrial automation systems.\nDemonstrated technical leadership skills, including complex diagnostics, technical reviews and risk-based decision making.\nCommercially aware, with experience supporting customer relationships, contractual commitments and technically robust service proposals.\nSelf-motivated, adaptable and collaborative, with strong communication skills and excellent written and spoken English.\nBenefits\nABB offers a full range of benefits to help you thrive at work and beyond.\n\nCompetitive salary\n25 days annual leave plus bank holidays\nCompetitive contributory pension scheme\nLife assurance\nFlexible benefits scheme (Includes options to buy/sell holidays, health checks, dental, eye care, gym memberships, cycle to work, gadget discounts and more)\nInternal mobility opportunities, mentorships & access to projects globally\nEmployee Assistance Programme\nGenerous employee referral scheme\nPrivate medical cover\nGenerous bonus scheme\nCompany car or cash for car allowance\nFor the 6th consecutive year ABB UK has been recognised as a Top Employer in UK.
