Join us and help run what runs the world.\nThis position reports to:\nEngineering Manager 2__\nYour role and responsibilities\nIn this role, you will act as a design authority for Mine Hoist solutions, with a strong focus on electrical, control, drive systems and functional safety. Each day, you will plan and perform assignments on multiple projects of varying complexity or portions of major projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring assignments are completed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards.\nThis role provides a clear pathway to a future technical leadership within ABB's Hoisting business, as the team continues to grow in Australia.\nThe work model for the role is: Hybrid\nThis role is contributing to Hoisting business unit as part of Mining and Materials Business in Australia. The main stakeholders are our clients and project managers.\nYou will be mainly accountable for:\nActing as the technical interface across the complete hoisting system, working closely with mechanical, control, safety, and site commissioning teams to deliver best-in-class performance.\n\nServing as a trusted technical authority for customers, shaping hoisting solutions, leading technical discussions, and incorporating customer feedback to continuously improve outcomes.\n\nDelivering projects including new hoist installations, upgrades, and life-cycle extensions involving drive systems, safety systems, and site-based commissioning activities.\n\nCreating work plans and cost estimates for the portfolio of projects and ensuring quality, timely implementation within the targeted cost.\n\nCoordinating with relevant functions to ensure the designs are appropriately manufactured, staged, tested, installed, and commissioned.\n\nSupporting and executing on-site commissioning activities.\n\nCoaching engineering colleagues on the translation of conceptual designs to engineering documentation, best practices, and lessons learned from past projects.\n\nOur team dynamics\nYou will join a collaborative and experienced team that supports one another across site, engineering, and product functions. We value initiative, continuous learning, and a strong safety and integrity first mindset.\n Qualifications for the role\nDegree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronic Engineering (or equivalent experience), valid in Australia\n\nHold, or are eligible for, professional engineering registration within Australia\n\nExperience in mine hoisting systems or safety-critical heavy industrial applications (e.g. winders, draglines, cranes, large drives, or similar)\n\nStrong capability in electrical power systems, large variable speed drives, control systems, and industrial networks\n\nWorking knowledge of functional safety standards and lifecycle practices (e.g. IEC 62061/61508 or equivalent)\n\nExperience supporting manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning activities\n\nConfidence in engaging with customers, site teams, and cross-functional engineering disciplines\n\nDemonstrated ability to mentor engineers, share lessons learned, and contribute to the development of engineering standards and best practices.\n\nWhat's in it for you?\nAt ABB, your work has a direct impact.
