You will have access to:\nCareer development with an international company where you can grow the career you dream of.\nA company recognized as a great place to work in dozens of countries around the world and named one of the most admired companies in the world by Fortune.\nA company that is recognized as one of the best big companies to work for as well as a best place to work for diversity, working mothers, female executives, and scientists.\nThe Opportunity\nAs the Associate Chemist (Trainer), responsible for ensuring laboratory personnel are trained, qualified, and competent to perform testing activities safely and effectively.\nEnsures all training activities comply with internal procedures, GMP, GLP, Class A, and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.\nDevelops, coordinates, and delivers laboratory training programs for new hires and existing analysts.\nSupports knowledge transfer, method implementation, equipment qualification, and troubleshooting through coaching and practical training.\nPartners with Laboratory Operations teams to strengthen technical capability and compliance.\nSupports investigations, batch corrections, risk releases and continuous improvement initiatives through competency development.\nMaintains training records, qualification matrices, and training effectiveness assessments.\nSupports audits by ensuring training systems and documentation meet regulatory and quality requirements.\nWhat You’ll Do\nDeliver laboratory onboarding, technical, and compliance training to new hires and existing laboratory personnel.\nAssess trainee competency through observations, practical demonstrations, and proficiency evaluations.\nDevelop, review, and maintain training materials, work instructions, training modules, and qualification programs.\nCoordinate analyst qualification and requalification activities for laboratory methods and equipment.\nProvide coaching and mentoring to analysts to ensure consistent execution of testing procedures and good documentation practices.\nMaintain training records and ensure all personnel training requirements are completed within designated timelines.\nMonitor training effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve laboratory competency and performance.\nCollaborate with subject matter experts to develop and implement training plans for new methods, equipment, and systems.\nSupport laboratory investigations, CAPA implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives by addressing knowledge and skill gaps.\nEnsure all laboratory activities are conducted in accordance with safety requirements, GMP, GLP, and ISO/IEC 17025 standards.\nDevelop and apply technical expertise within the laboratory and share best practices across shifts.\nDemonstrate awareness of operational urgency and provide timely support to plant operations when required.\nExchange and verify job-related information to facilitate effective communication and coordination.\nComply with all GMP requirements, hygiene rules, safety procedures, and sanitation standards.\nSupport analytical testing activities as required to maintain technical proficiency.\nPerform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.\nRequirements\nPreferably 1 to 3 years of experience in a chemistry laboratory, quality control laboratory, or analytical testing environment.\nExperience in training, coaching, mentoring, or competency assessment is preferred.\nStrong working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation such as HPLC, UV-Vis, ICP, FTIR, and related analytical equipment.\nGood presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to explain technical concepts clearly to individuals with varying levels of experience.\nStrong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail.\nAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment and manage multiple training priorities.\nStrong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across functions.\nDegree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Food Technology, or related discipline; or\nDiploma with at least 1 to 3 years of relevant laboratory experience.\nLocation:\nThis position is based in Tuas, Singapore.\nFollow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
