As we continue to grow, we are looking for a EHS Specialist who enjoys collaboration, learning, and leading with care, while contributing to work that truly makes a difference.\nAbout The Role\nThe EHS Specialist will be responsible for implementing internal and external standards regarding environment, health and safety as well as physical security. The successful candidate will continuously monitor, report, sustain, update and implement new requirements and represent the site’s program to auditors and government officials. In this cross-functional role, you’ll report into the plants head of operations and collaborate with a global EHS team.\nKey Responsibilities:\nEnsure accurate and timely reporting of site EHS metrics.\n\nDevelop and lead onsite Emergency Response programs.\n\nAdapt and rollout global EHS training programs.\n\nEnsure EHS documentation is accurate and compliant to internal standards and Swiss laws and regulations.\n\nAct as the point of contact for EHS matters at Abbott Heart Failure’s Zurich site.\n\nSupport Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Safety Management Systems, Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.\n\nPromote work safety on site and act as Spezialisten der Arbeitssicherheit (ASA) and facilitate periodic safety audits.\n\nOrganize and manage compliance with Abbott EHS standards via assessment of site programs and documents\n\nIncorporate duties of a Swiss SiBe (Sicherheitsbeauftragter)\n\nWork as a team player on a global EHS team\n\nRequired Qualifications/Technical Skills:\nBachelor/Master’s degree in a Science or Engineering discipline\n\nProfessional certification preferred including Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), ISO14001 Lead Auditor\n\nMin. 3 years of experience in EHS Management ideally in a global, American corporation\n\nAble to work in a matrix environment with little supervision\n\nExperience within Med-Tech or pharmaceutical industry desired\n\nEfficient hands-on project experience, able to get things done\n\nExcellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt it to all levels\n\nStructured, rigorous and analytical approach\n\nExcellent command of English with German proficiency preferred, both written and spoken.\n\nReporting/Supervisory Structure:\nThe role reports directly to the Director of Site Operations with a dotted line to the Division Environmental Health and Safety Leader.\n\nWhy Join Abbott / Thoratec?\nAt Abbott, we believe people do their best work when they feel supported, respected, and able to grow.
