The Cloud Platform Practice delivers and evolves cloud-based services, APIs, medical data platforms, messaging and event-streaming technologies, and other shared platform capabilities.\nPartnering with the Cloud Platform Practice Owner, Product leaders, and technical stakeholders, this role translates strategy into execution, supports delivery commitments, and fosters a culture of trust, inclusion, innovation, and continuous learning. The Engineering Manager provides coaching, removes barriers, and helps engineers grow while maintaining strong engineering standards and platform reliability.\nReporting to the Cloud Platform Practice Owner, the Engineering Manager is accountable for building a high-performing team, balancing delivery with long-term platform sustainability, and driving reliable, secure, and scalable solutions that create business and customer value.\nWhat You’ll Work On\nLead and develop a team of cloud software engineers by providing coaching, mentoring, feedback, and growth opportunities aligned with organizational objectives.\n\nModel team-first leadership by empowering engineers to lead initiatives, recognizing contributions, and fostering accountability for team outcomes.\n\nCreate an inclusive and psychologically safe environment that encourages collaboration, continuous learning, innovation, and respectful challenge.\n\nCollaborate with the practice to support hiring, onboarding, succession planning, and knowledge-sharing activities that strengthen organizational capability.\n\nLearn and improve our existing Go-based healthcare platforms.\n\nDesign and implement services and components utilizing Go for cloud-based platforms.\n\nDevelop high-volume, low-latency services for a global healthcare platform.\n\nCollaborate with internal and external partners to develop and integrate APIs that empower users to share and utilize their medical data in partner systems.\n\nCollaborate directly with Information Security teams to design and implement secure solutions.\n\nEnsure platform performance, scalability, reliability, and uptime while maintaining high standards of engineering quality.\n\nContribute to significant architectural and operational decisions in collaboration with Architecture and Platform leadership.\n\nSupport delivery commitments by identifying capacity constraints, risks, dependencies, and execution challenges, while communicating progress and tradeoffs to stakeholders.\n\nPartner with technical product owners and business stakeholders to align priorities, remove barriers, and ensure successful delivery of platform capabilities.\n\nBalance near-term delivery goals with long-term platform sustainability through investments in quality, security, observability, operability, performance, and technical debt reduction.\n\nEncourage pragmatic experimentation and innovation by evaluating new ideas based on customer needs, technical evidence, risk, and expected value.\n\nBuild trusted relationships across Product, Security, Quality, Regulatory, and other business and technology teams.\n\nLead technical planning, design reviews, and engineering best practices across the Cloud Software Platform Practice.\n\nStay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, making recommendations that support innovation and business objectives.\n\nSupport company initiatives and comply with FDA and other applicable global regulatory requirements.\n\nQualifications\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, other relevant field or equivalent experience.\n\nMinimum 8 years of related experience or a Master’s degree and 6+ years of related experience.\n\nA leadership approach grounded in humility, curiosity, accountability, and service to the team.\n\nExperience supporting engineers who work across multiple product teams, programs, or matrixed organizational structures.\n\nSoftware engineering experience with cloud-based or distributed systems and sufficient technical fluency to understand context, ask effective questions, and participate credibly in architecture, risk, and delivery discussions.\n\nAbility to coach engineers in problem-solving, judgment, and professional growth while fostering a shared mentoring model in which Principal, Staff, Senior, and other engineers contribute their technical expertise.\n\nExperience designing, implementing, and maintaining highly complex asynchronous messaging and backend processing jobs.\n\nExperience contributing to a scalable architecture/design of existing and new systems that are highly available and goals into engineering priorities, delivery plans, and measurable outcomes.\n\nAbility to balance delivery speed with reliability, security, quality, maintainability, and long-term platform health.\n\nComfortable working asynchronously with a distributed team\n\nStrong written, verbal, and listening skills, including the ability to communicate technical choices, risks, and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences.\n\nStrong Computer Science fundamentals and experience with software development.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience leading teams that build production software in Go or another modern cloud-native language.\n\nExperience with public-cloud platforms and managed database, messaging, event-streaming, API, and service technologies.\n\nExperience treating an internal platform as a product, with a focus on developer experience, adoption, reliability, and measurable value.\n\nExperience with agile product development and modern software engineering practices, including automated testing, continuous delivery, observability, and secure development.\n\nExperience in digital health, medical devices, or another regulated
