You’ll also have access to:\nCareer development with an international company where you can grow the career you dream of.\nEmployees can qualify for free medical coverage in our Health Investment Plan (HIP) PPO medical plan in the next calendar year.\nAn excellent retirement savings plan with a high employer contribution\nTuition reimbursement, the Freedom 2 Save student debt program, and FreeU education benefit - an affordable and convenient path to getting a bachelor’s degree.\nA company recognized as a great place to work in dozens of countries worldwide and named one of the most admired companies in the world by Fortune.\nA company that is recognized as one of the best big companies to work for as well as the best place to work for diversity, working mothers, female executives, and scientists.\nThe Opportunity\nOur location in Columbus, OH, currently has an opportunity for an Associate Scientist II .\nIn Research & Development (R&D) our ambition is to provide innovative high-quality products, creating sustainable value, delivering superior user experience and enhancing health outcomes at all stages of life.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\nDay to day activities may include but are not limited to the following:\nPrimary Function:\nDevelop and optimize nutritional products for commercial launch by creating formulations that improve product performance, support product claims, meet regulatory requirements, and strengthen supply chain resilience.\nSupport the technical development of nutritional products and lead defined project workstreams ranging from line extensions and renovations to new product innovations.\nSupport product development activities from concept through commercialization.\nMajor Responsibilities:\nSupport the planning and execution of experiments to optimize the nutritional, microbiological, sensory, and physical attributes of new and existing products.\nConduct laboratory and pilot-scale trials; document observations, analyze results, and communicate conclusions and recommendations.\nInterpret experimental results and recommend appropriate next steps and action plans.\nSupport scale-up, production readiness, and commercialization activities.\nPrepare technical reports and communicate project updates to stakeholders.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Purchasing, and Legal.\nSupport the evaluation of ingredients, formulations, and technical solutions to achieve product development objectives.\nMaintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.\nAccountability/Scope:\nIndependently execute assigned project activities and contribute to the successful delivery of product development initiatives.\nIdentify technical challenges, risks, and opportunities, and recommend data-driven solutions in collaboration with project teams.\nBuild technical expertise in nutritional product development, ingredient functionality, and the New Product Development process.\nDeliver high-quality work through sound scientific practices, attention to detail, and timely execution.\nApply continuous improvement principles by evaluating existing approaches and incorporating new tools, technologies, and ways of working.\nDevelop an understanding of business priorities, consumer needs, and product requirements to support project objectives.\nRequired Qualifications\nMS in Food Science or a related scientific field with 0-3 years of relevant experience, or BS in Food Science or a related scientific field with 3-7 years of relevant experience.\nPreferred:\nExperience in food, nutrition, beverage, dairy, or related product development environments preferred.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nExperience with experimental design, data analysis, and technical reporting preferred.\nProficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.\nAbility to stand for extended periods while supporting laboratory, pilot plant, and production activities.\nAbility to lift up to 25 pounds as needed to support R&D trials.\nMISC:\nThis is an on-site role - not a remote role.\nSponsorship: we will not provide sponsorship of any kind for this role (including OPT).\nRelocation assistance is not offered for this role.\nApply Now\nLearn more about our health and wellness benefits, which provide the security to help you and your family live full lives:www.abbottbenefits.com\nFollow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
