Join us and you’ll be part of a family that’s dedicated to innovation and excellence and dedicated to nourishing millions of families around the world.\nWhat You'll Work On\nThe Automation Engineer improves and maintains plant equipment, systems and other fixed assets to a high standard of safety, quality and productivity while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.\n\nThis role provides automation engineering support to all aspects of the operation to a 24-hour production facility.\n\nWill work with a cross functional team of mechanical, chemical, process and other engineering disciplines.\n\nSolves problems that have a variety of complex features, such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.\n\nPlan schedules, conducts or coordinates engineering work for project tasks and deadlines.\n\nUses knowledge to advise on the definition of a project scope with internal customers.\n\nApplies new technology and control updates where feasible.\n\nInterface with project team members, department managers, designers, R&D, Corporate and Division Engineering\n\nProvide technical support to the Tipp City plant, division engineering, and the Quality Assurance to support new product introductions, new process/equipment start-up, process optimizations, vendor qualifications, and process alternative evaluations.\n\nImplement new and/or current manufacturing methods into manufacturing.\n\nMonitor production to determine areas of improvement and react to unforeseen production/manufacturing issues.\n\nCreate and execute validation activities according to plant/division policy.\n\nPlans and conducts small to medium-sized projects. Responsibilities include detailed project planning/monitoring, project reviews, implementation, validation, and release to production.\n\nCreate equipment/process specifications, drawings, and software as required and ensure that existing documentation is accurate and appropriate.\n\nResearch, recommend, implement, and qualify replacement parts for discontinued/obsolete components, equipment, and software.\n\nCommunicate and review software changes and updates before execution with other engineers.\n\nDetailed oriented with desire to complete work at a high level.\n\nProvide excellent customer service to the production teams and meet Abbott compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nAssociate or bachelor’s degree in industrial automation, electrical, systems, or equivalent degree.\n\n7 years’ experience in food or beverage process systems automation engineering, new machine programming, and/or line integration execution.\n\nDemonstrated project management skills.\n\nGood communication skills, both written and verbal required.\n\nPossesses a working technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures of automation food/beverage process systems.\n\nExercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.\n\nInteract well with diverse groups within the operation and maintain strong working relationships in a collaborative, fast-paced, goal-driven environment.\n\nWork experience in the food/medical industry under SQF, ODA, FDA, and/or other regulatory bodies.\n\nRequired working knowledge of the following:\nIntegrated control systems\n\nAC and DC power distribution systems at a machine level.\n\nControl system wiring\n\nPowerflex 500 and 700 series\n\nRockwell Studio 5000\n\nRockwell FTView (SE/ME/Viewpoint)\n\nRockwell Kinetix system troubleshooting\n\nIOLink, EtherNet, and other fieldbus technologies\n\nAutoCAD Electrical\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nOSI/PI or ZPI historian\n\nSiemens TIA Portal with SIMotion\n\nPilz Safety Systems\n\nFactoryTalk Batch\n\nFactoryTalk Thin Manager\n\nIgnition software (support or development)\n\nCognex Vision Systems\n\nVideojet print systems\n\nMarkem-Imaje print systems\n\nGMP understanding\n\n21 CFR Part 11 understanding.\n\nProcess validation and management\n\nIn compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
