Abbott is an American healthcare company founded in 1888 by a Chicago physician who began making precise doses of alkaloid medicines for his own patients. It now operates four large businesses: diagnostics, including the point-of-care and molecular testing that scaled during the pandemic, medical devices spanning cardiac rhythm, structural heart, neuromodulation and continuous glucose monitoring, nutrition brands such as Similac and Ensure, and established pharmaceuticals sold mainly in emerging markets. The company is headquartered in North Chicago, Illinois, and separated its research-based drug business as AbbVie in 2013.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Title: IMA Laboratory Technician

Location: Witney, Oxfordshire

Start your career in science with hands-on experience in a real lab environment.

About Us:

At Abbott Diabetes Care in Witney, we help people manage diabetes through innovative technologies, including our FreeStyle Libre systems and blood glucose testing products.

No degree needed-just a passion for science and a willingness to learn

What You’ll Do:

  • Support our Lab Teams: Learn how to use a variety of laboratory instruments to test incoming materials while working alongside experienced laboratory technicians.

  • Attention to Detail: Ensure documentation is completed accurately and carefully. As part of Quality Control, our team plays a vital role in ensuring materials meet the required standards before entering the manufacturing process.

  • Keep Things Tidy and Ready: Clean, maintain, and prepare laboratory equipment and materials while following Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.

  • You’re organised, have good attention to detail, reliable, and keen to learn.

  • Any experience in a lab or practical setting is a bonus-but not essential.

WHAT WE OFFER:

At Abbott, you'll be part of a dynamic team that is making a real difference in diabetes care. You'll have the opportunity to work with incoming materials that contribute to both our sensor and blood glucose testing products.

We actively encourage continuous improvement and welcome new ideas from all team members.

As you'd expect from an innovative global healthcare company, we offer an excellent starting salary and a competitive range of benefits including a defined contribution pension scheme, share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme. Here at Witney, we also like to help our employees live life to the fullest, and therefore we offer a range of optional initiatives for you to get involved in, including onsite allotments, bee keeping, yoga and more!

APPLY NOW:

If you are interested in starting a career in a Quality Control laboratory environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Join us in advancing diabetes care and making a positive impact on people's lives around the world.
