Our diagnostic systems and assays are used worldwide to detect, diagnose, and monitor diseases, helping people live healthier lives.\nAs the Technician I, Instruments, you’ll have the chance to maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair measurement and test equipment, instrumentation, and control systems that support manufacturing, quality, and research operations. You’ll help ensure equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across the site.\nWhat You’ll Work On\nPerform calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of measuring and test equipment (M&TE), instrumentation, and control systems following approved procedures.\nSupport manufacturing, quality assurance, research and development, distribution, and utility operations by ensuring equipment performs within required specifications.\nReview, process, and complete calibration records, purchase orders, and work orders accurately and on time using maintenance management systems such as Maximo.\nAnalyze equipment performance data and apply corrective actions to improve reliability, accuracy, and compliance.\nAssist with the development and validation of calibration methods, operating procedures, and newly installed equipment.\nRead and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, control programs, and manufacturer documentation to diagnose equipment issues.\nPartner with cross-functional teams to investigate equipment-related problems and recommend effective technical solutions.\nSupport installation, startup, and validation activities for instrumentation and automated calibration systems.\nEnsure compliance with GMP, GLP, safety, and quality requirements in daily activities.\nMaintain accurate documentation and provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing as needed.\nRequired Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma or GED.\nMinimum of 2 years of trades training experience or equivalent applicable military training.\nExperience in electrical, electronic, mechanical, or instrumentation systems.\nExperience performing calibration, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, or repair of equipment.\nAbility to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and equipment drawings.\nAbility to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.\nPreferred Qualifications\nTechnical education in Electronics Technology, Instrumentation Technology, or a related field.\nExperience supporting regulated environments such as medical device, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or laboratory operations.\nExperience with process control systems, instrumentation, and automated equipment.\nWorking knowledge of GMP, GLP, and quality system requirements.\nExperience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), including Maximo.\nFamiliarity with laboratory, analytical, or manufacturing instrumentation.\nExperience supporting calibration programs and measurement and test equipment (M&TE).\nLearn more about our health and wellness benefits, which provide the security to help you and your family live full lives: https://abbottbenefits.com/\nFollow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
