This platform connects with Lingo's mobile applications to receive biosensor and user data, stores it securely at scale, and exposes the APIs and services that turn that data into personalized insights for millions of consumers.\nYou will also define how the platform connects to AI services, designing the interfaces, data flows, and safeguards that let Lingo bring machine learning and generative AI capabilities into its products responsibly and reliably.\nThis is a hands-on, senior individual contributor role. You will set architecture direction, lead design reviews, build proofs of concept, and mentor engineers, working closely with engineering leaders, product managers, mobile, data, and AI teams to make the platform secure, scalable, and ready for what comes next.\nWhat You'll Work On\nOwn the end-to-end architecture of Lingo's cloud SaaS platform and maintain a clear architecture vision and roadmap aligned with product and business priorities.\nDefine architecture principles, reference designs, and standards for services, APIs, data, and infrastructure that engineering teams use to build consistently.\nLead architecture and design reviews, document key decisions (e.g., architecture decision records), and keep technical debt and trade-offs visible and managed.\nAssess the current platform, identify scalability, reliability, and cost risks, and drive a pragmatic plan to evolve it as the user base and product scope grow.\nArchitect the services that connect Lingo's iOS and Android applications to the cloud, including device data sync, offline handling, and efficient, secure data upload.\nDesign high-throughput ingestion pipelines for continuous biosensor and user-generated data, ensuring data is accurate, complete, and processed in a timely way.\nDefine backend-for-frontend patterns, API contracts, and versioning strategies that let mobile and cloud teams evolve independently without breaking users.\nDesign the data storage architecture for time-series biosensor data, user profiles, and derived insights, selecting the right mix of relational, NoSQL, and analytical stores.\nDefine data models, retention, partitioning, and lifecycle policies that balance performance, cost, and privacy obligations.\nArchitect secure, performant APIs that power in-app experiences, internal services, and platform capabilities, with clear standards for authentication, authorization, and rate limiting.\nPartner with Data Engineering to ensure clean data flows into analytics and data platforms with appropriate lineage and governance.\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.\n 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including 5+ years in an architect, principal, or technical lead role for large-scale cloud or SaaS platforms.\nProven experience architecting cloud-native backends that serve mobile applications at consumer scale.\nDeep expertise in distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, and API design (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC).\nStrong experience with Azure cloud services (e.g., App Service, AKS, Azure Functions, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, Event Hubs, API Management) or equivalent at production scale.\nExperience designing data storage and processing for high-volume or time-series data.\nExperience integrating ML models or AI services into production systems, including serving, monitoring, and reliability considerations.\nExperience designing systems that handle sensitive data under HIPAA, PHI, GDPR, or similar privacy frameworks.\nHands-on ability to prototype, review code, and engage deeply in technical detail, with excellent written and verbal communication skills\nPreferred\nExperience building partner ecosystems in digital health, wearables, IoT, fitness, or consumer health technology.\nFamiliarity with health data standards and platforms such as FHIR, HL7, Apple HealthKit, and Google Health Connect.\nExperience with consent management platforms and privacy-by-design practices.\nExperience with event streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Azure Event Hubs) and API management tooling.\nBackground in data infrastructure including SQL, NoSQL, Data Lakes, and Blob Storage in a cloud-native context.\nApply Now\nLearn more about our health and wellness benefits, which provide the security to help you and your family live full lives:www.abbottbenefits.com\nFollow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
