This team owns the customer-facing portals that serve patients, providers, and payers, along with the integrations that power them. You will design, build, and run secure, reliable, full-stack services on AWS, working in a squad that owns its product end to end. You will write high-quality code, strengthen how we build, and help the engineers around you grow.\nWe are looking for someone who builds with the full lifecycle in mind: thoughtful design, solid testing, and real responsibility for how services run once they are live. The ideal candidate is a strong collaborator who listens before they lead, shares what they know generously, and brings people along when change is needed.\nWhat You’ll Work On\nDesign and build RESTful and GraphQL APIs, services, and event-driven integrations using Java, Spring Boot, and messaging platforms such as Kafka, with attention to versioning, error handling, and idempotency. \nContribute to front-end work, building responsive, accessible user interfaces using Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, HTML, and CSS. \nTreat performance, availability, observability, security, and compliance requirements as first-class parts of every design, not afterthoughts. \nWrite and automate unit and integration tests that give the team confidence to ship often. \nDeploy and operate services on AWS using containers and infrastructure as code, supported by GitLab CI/CD pipelines. \nApply sound architectural patterns, such as hexagonal and layered architecture, to keep services clear, testable, and easy to change. \nContribute to design discussions and code reviews, mentor engineers earlier in their careers, and help raise the quality bar across the squad. \nPartner with product, UX, QE, and other engineering teams in an Agile environment to deliver features that serve our portal users. \nHelp scale our portals for international growth in a distributed architecture that spans multiple geographic locations. \nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience\n8+ years of related software engineering experience. \nDemonstrated experience designing, building, and supporting distributed microservices in production using Java or a comparable object-oriented language, a framework such as Spring Boot, and RESTful or GraphQL APIs, including event-driven integrations with messaging platforms such as Kafka. \nExperience building and running services on a major cloud platform such as AWS or Azure. \nStrong SQL and relational database skills, including data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning. \nExperience writing automated unit and integration tests, and working with Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines. \nStrong troubleshooting and analytical skills, including the ability to investigate complex issues across application services, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure. \nExcellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and independently own technical deliverables from design through production deployment. \nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience building user interfaces with Angular, TypeScript, and RxJS, with a solid grounding in HTML, CSS, and accessibility basics, and with state management (NgRx) or micro-frontend approaches. \nExperience with AI-assisted software engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or equivalent solutions. \nExperience with AWS services such as EKS/ECS, S3, RDS, Lambda, and IAM. \nExperience with Terraform or Kubernetes. \nExperience with NoSQL databases. \nExperience securing APIs using Spring Security and OAuth 2/OIDC. \nExperience working in a regulated industry (such as healthcare or life sciences). \nApply Now\nLearn more about our health and wellness benefits, which provide the security to help you and your family live full lives: www.abbottbenefits.com\nFollow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
