In this highly visible position, you will serve as the primary liaison with state tax authorities, leverage your expertise in sales tax regulations, and help minimize tax exposure through strategic audit management, research, and negotiation.\nWhat You'll Work On\nManage and coordinate multiple sales and use tax audits for Abbott and its U.S. subsidiaries.\nServe as the primary point of contact between tax auditors and internal business stakeholders.\nRespond to auditor inquiries, documentation requests, and audit questionnaires in a timely and accurate manner.\nPlan, organize, and execute all phases of audits, including data collection, analysis, and presentation of supporting documentation.\nReview and analyze audit data to ensure information provided is relevant, accurate, and appropriately documented.\nResearch tax laws and regulations to support Abbott’s audit positions and challenge assessments when warranted.\nDevelop strategies to minimize audit assessments and mitigate tax liabilities.\nPartner with manufacturing sites, finance teams, and other stakeholders to obtain audit-related information and resolve issues.\nSupport special projects related to the taxability of purchases and indirect tax compliance.\nCollaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with exemption certificate requirements and state tax regulations.\nParticipate in audit appeals, informal conferences, or other dispute resolution processes as needed.\nMaintain compliance with all corporate policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.\n5+ years of experience managing sales and use tax audits.\nStrong knowledge of U.S. sales and use tax laws, regulations, and audit procedures.\nDemonstrated ability to independently manage multiple concurrent audits and competing priorities.\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.\nStrong negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to present complex tax positions clearly and effectively.\nProven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across functions.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.\nAbility to work effectively under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.\nPreferred Qualifications\nCPA designation or progress toward CPA certification.\nExperience supporting large, multi-state organizations with complex indirect tax operations.\nExperience conducting tax research and defending tax positions during audits, appeals, or dispute resolution proceedings.\nKnowledge of exemption certificate management and indirect tax compliance programs.\nExperience working with acquisitions and integrating newly acquired entities into audit and compliance processes.\nStrong leadership and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively with auditors and cross-functional stakeholders.\nExperience identifying process improvements that enhance audit readiness and tax compliance.\nLearn more about our health and wellness benefits, which provide the security to help you and your family live full lives:www.abbottbenefits.com\nFollow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
