This role also involves handling complex accounting tasks, supporting audits, and participating in process improvement initiatives. The Sr. GL Accountant collaborates with various stakeholders within Corporate Financial Services and regional finance teams to drive operational excellence.\nWhat You’ll Do\nGeneral Ledger & Month-End Close\nPerform journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments in compliance with accounting policies and standards.\nManage intercompany transactions, confirmations and reconciliations, involving communication with Abbott business locations worldwide.\nOversee fixed asset registers and ensure proper capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.\nPrepare financial reporting packages and trend reports, ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient completion.\nPrepare and analyze One-Margin or Global Product Reporting and Intercompany Margin Reports and load into Data Foundation.\nPrepare multi-currency bank reconciliations, including clearing of open items.\nPerform financial statement analysis, prepare adjustments as needed, and discuss financial results with Local Finance and/or Controllers.\nPrepare intercompany billing for cross-charges to various business units, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.\nUnderstand and apply the logic and methodology behind cross-charging mechanisms to ensure fairness and accuracy.\nResponsible for revenue recognition activities.\nLead the annual costing process, working closely with procurement teams and local finance to review and validate standard costs and transfer pricing, ensuring accurate ERP updates.\nAnalyze cost variances and ensure proper cost accounting for inventory.\nPerform annual account balance roll-forward activities in the ERP, ensuring balances are accurate and expected.\nAct as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for accounting processes impacting supported entities or business units.\nTake responsibility for actions and outcomes, demonstrate urgency in delivering results, and remain dependable during critical business situations.\nCompliance and Audit Support\nServe as the point of contact for audit requirements and queries.\nProvide supporting documentation required by auditors in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.\nCollaborate with Local Finance stakeholders to address audit inquiries.\nSupport responses to and remediation of audit findings.\nCommunicate and enforce organizational policies and procedures.\nRecognize and constructively conform to established practices and standards.\nAssist in the preparation of assigned entity statutory audits.\nEnsure compliance with SOX, internal controls, Abbott Corporate policies, and division or department-specific procedures.\nSupport internal and external audits and Corporate Tax requests.\nBalance Sheet Account Reconciliations\nReview balance sheet reconciliations prepared by GL Accountants, ensuring each reconciliation is complete and adequately documented.\nPerform complex balance sheet account reconciliations.\nInvestigate and resolve outstanding issues, ensuring all aged, open, and reconciling items are properly accounted for and explained.\nProcess Improvement and Efficiency\nWork closely with project owners and internal stakeholders to ensure implementation within targeted timelines.\nEnhance existing work schedules and develop new processes to improve efficiency.\nReview and maintain process documentation to reflect improvements and changes.\nStakeholder Management and Issue Resolution\nAct as the first point of escalation for issues and concerns.\nIdentify root causes and recommend resolution and preventive action plans.\nUpdate and monitor action items through RAID logs.\nAddress and resolve escalated issues related to GL transactions.\nEnsure all resolutions comply with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.\nRequirements\nB.S. Accountancy graduate; CPA preferred.\nAt least 5 years of RTR experience in a complex, multi-country shared services environment.\nExperience in specialized accounting such as Treasury, Inventory, and Product Costing is a plus.\nStrong knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP with the ability to apply technical accounting knowledge to day-to-day operations.\nSolid experience in balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis.\nSAP P01, SAP S/4HANA, or other major enterprise system experience is an advantage.\nStrong English communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.\nStrong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis; VBA knowledge is an advantage.\nTeam-oriented, self-starter with the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.\nProcess and system migration experience is an advantage.\nExperience driving automation or finance process transformation initiatives is an advantage.\nLocation\nThis position is based in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Philippines.\nFollow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
