To complement the range of “Similac” infant formulae, the facility also manufactures a range of follow-on formulae under the brand name of “Gain”. The essential ingredient is liquid skim-milk and this is combined with carbohydrate, vegetable oils, vitamins and minerals. The product is blended, pasteurised, dried and packaged at the site and once packaged, is distributed to Europe, South East Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Canada.\nEstablished in 1975, Abbott Nutrition in Ireland is the largest powder manufacturing facility for the production of infant formulae within the Abbott Corporation worldwide. Approximately 1,000 dairy farms in Ireland and Northern Ireland supply quality milk to the Cootehill facility which processes 500,000 litres per day. This secure supply together with Ireland’s reputation as a green, clean environment is of significant strategic importance to Abbott Nutrition.\n*Please note any offer of employment for this position is conditional upon the successful completion of a pre-employment medical examination, including drug and alcohol screening, conducted by a medical practitioner designated by the Company.\nPrimary Function / Goals / Objectives\nTo maintain Plant and Equipment at Optimum performance and provide utilities to Manufacturing Department and General Plant to achieve yearly plan.\nFollow all Health and Safety Rules and Regulations in the plant.\nReport any current or potential hazards to your immediate supervisor/dept. manager immediately.\nThe correct Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) must be worn at all times. Consult the appropriate SOP where required.\nThe Fitter is responsible for consulting any SOP’s for any job task he/she may carry out and ensure they fully understand and adhere to the SOP.\nHousekeeping is a critical function of all jobs and the Fitter is expected to ensure all housekeeping activities are observed and carried out appropriately. It is important that the Fitter is in adherence to the Housekeeping SOP.\nIt is important that cGMP is a main priority in any operation carried out in this job function.\nCarry out maintenance and trouble shooting on plant and equipment.\nCarry out installation and commissioning of plant and equipment.\nUse diagnostic tools for condition monitoring of Plant and Equipment.\nCarry out engineering work orders in a timely and safe manner while maintaining adherence to cGMP and full compliance with procedures.\nComplete all work order forms in full.\nCarry out plant preventative maintenance programme as scheduled.\nFully complete all P.M’s plant forms.\nFollow correct procedure when carrying out hotwork & confined space entry ensuring work permits are fully complete and in compliance with SOP’s.\nWhen working on equipment ensure the correct lockout - tagout procedure is adhered to.\nEnsure adherence to Working from Heights Code of Practice is followed.\nDevelop in-depth working knowledge of all plant equipment.\nMaintain equipment in utilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.\nAssist in the development and training of apprentices.\nPerform a detailed hand over of work to colleagues when shift completed.\nThis Job function will change where update procedures to cGMP, EHS, Technical / New Equipment, Quality Procedures & SOP’s are made.\nTo complete training and review of SOPs on compliancewire.\nTo support plant on all business excellence activities.\nPrint forms from Teamcenter as required.\nThis list of responsibilities may change depending on plant needs and employees are expected to be adaptable and flexible where this need arises.\nMajor Responsibilities\nMinimise downtime in production and utility areas.\nTo install, inspect, adjust, lubricate, troubleshoot and repair all plant and equipment. To perform routine PM checks on equipment and maintain plant at optimum performance. \nIndependently creates work plans and is able to complete work with little to no supervision\nIndependently carry out low complexity electrical or mechanical works\nRoutinely update or create training aids for operators and/or craft\nRoutinely update or create PM’s based on analysis of DM’s or other line failures\nSupport other areas across plant if additional help is needed\nSupervisory/Management Responsibilities\nNot Applicable\nEducation Required\nHave a recognized mechanical apprenticeship.\nSenior or junior trades certificates in mechanical craft.\nKnowledge\nProven track record or demonstrated ability in mechanical field.\nAn ability to read diagrams and troubleshoot equipment.\nSix months on the job experience.\nAbility to work on platforms, scaffolding & ladders.\nGood mental ability to logically follow a line of though for problem solving.\nBasic Computer Skills\nAccountability / Scope\nIncur downtime and inability to produce product.
