As our new EHS Engineer, you will create a culture of strong safety engagement among employees and utilise the operational excellence framework to drive EHS improvements, compliance with EHS requirements, and achieving EHS KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).\nWe have a diverse team at AbbVie Westport that you will work with to achieve safety and environmental goals/objectives in line with the overall campus goals and objectives.\nSo, if you are ready to advance your career with AbbVie in Westport, read on for more information on this pivotal role.\nKey Responsibilities\nCreate a strong “Zero Believe It, Achieve It. I Will” incident and injury-free safety culture. \nEngage and empower managers and employees to highlight and implement continuous safety improvements. \nMotivate, energise, and influence the BU (Business Unit) management team to implement fresh, leading-edge EHS programs, initiatives, and activities effectively. \nLead the EHS Risk Assessment program in BU and ensure all elements of facility, equipment, tasks, ergonomics, and chemicals are appropriately risk assessed. \nMaintain EHS KPIs, ensuring they are continuously up to date. Drive positive action and performance, ensuring appropriate, timely action on declining KPIs. \nAttend and support safety forums, provide direction for forums to ensure focus on key safety topics, provide safety information as relevant, and influence management and employees to ensure active engagement. \nComplete regular audits to ensure the business meets all EHS Regulatory and Corporate requirements and engage relevant team members on the GEMBA. \nSupport accident/incident investigation to ensure appropriate root cause analysis completed and CAPAs implemented. \nSupport a system whereby Safety interventions/EHS Observations are effectively recorded and managed. \nSupport the Supervisors/Managers where breaches of EHS policy are encountered. \nCoordinate EHS promotional activities to create a culture of engagement. \nWork with the EHS Team to ensure best-in-class standards across the Business Units. \nSupport and/or lead EHS programs on EHS Promotion; Behavioural Safety; Ergonomics; Machinery Safety; Powered Industrial Trucks; Emergency Response, EHS Training; Work at Height. \nComplete additional duties as assigned to you by the Associate Director EHS \n Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Science/Engineering, Environmental Science or similar. \nMinimum five years of EHS experience in a pharmaceutical/medical device or other industrial setting. \nDemonstrated knowledge of Irish health and safety regulations and industry best practices. \nExperience in the implementation and management of IS0 14001 and 45001 certified systems. \nSelf-motivated with excellent interpersonal, communication, organisation and decision-making skills \nExperience in influencing others, including upwards, to drive safety improvements. \nExperience in engaging employees to continuously improve safety culture. \nAbility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining close attention to detail.
