Our expanding In Vivo Pharmacology group in South San Francisco, CA has an opening for a motivated tumor biologist who is dedicated to the discovery and development of innovative therapeutics, both small molecule and biologics, with a focus on immuno-oncology. The Scientist I will perform tumor efficacy and PK/PD studies and provide pharmacology support to innovative cancer drug development. The scientist will work collaboratively in a project team setting with biology, medicinal chemistry, biologics, and DMPK scientists to advance oncology programs through the R&D pipeline.
Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities:
- Design, execute and optimize efficacy/PK/PD studies utilizing tumor models in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised mice.
- Understand and adhere to IACUC protocols regarding animal welfare and handling.
- Data analyses and presentation of pharmacodynamic/disease results, and work across discovery teams to integrate efficient workflows for cross-functional collaborations.
- Commitment to scientific rigor, high data quality and careful documentation.
Required Qualifications:
- Scientist I: MS with 2+ years of experience, or BS with 5+ years of experience
- Scientist II: MS with 5+ years of experience, or BS with 7+ years of experience
- Degree in cancer biology, immunology, pharmacology, or a related with extensive hands-on skills of in vivo tumor model execution; preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotech industry setting.
- Proficient hands-on experience with in vivo pharmacodynamic and tumor models, including anesthetization, biological sample collection (blood, spleen, lymph node, etc.), cell/drug administration via different routes/sites (SC, IP, PO, IV), and tumor volume measurement.
- Technical experience and knowledge in tissue culture and immune cell isolation from lymphoid tissue are desired.
- Knowledge of PK/PD relationships, flow cytometry, and other standard molecular and cellular biology assays (MSD, ELISA, etc.) are advantages.
- Understanding of in vivo optical imaging approaches and familiarity with instrumentation (e.g. IVIS instrument) is also an advantage.
- Must be proactive and able to manage multiple responsibilities, adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the willingness to work and build strong relationships with peers in a multidisciplinary team are essential.
- Flexibility and motivation to learn techniques and accomplish goals outside those stated above.
