The Analytical Development Department is responsible for development, qualification and execution of analytical methods and characterization studies to provide product and process understanding for development of AbbVie biopharmaceutical pipeline from discovery through commercial stages.\nAnalytical Development is seeking a highly experienced, motivated and team-oriented individual for an important role supporting development of AbbVie’s biologic pipeline of preclinical and clinical products. The successful candidate will be a member of the Process Analytics team responsible for development and execution of various separation methods (HPLC, CE, icIEF, etc.) and other analytical methods (small scale purification, SoloVPE, etc.) to support the CMC development of AbbVie early phase products and processes throughout the drug development lifecycle.\nKey Responsibilities:\nIndependently develop and apply capillary electrophoresis, and HPLC methods separation as well as other analytical methods to enable biological process development\nDevelop, qualify, and transfer fit-for-purpose in-process control methods to QC. \nProvide technical support to QC testing occurring at internal and external GMP testing laboratories.\nDemonstrate the ability to resolve key project hurdles and assumptions by effectively utilizing available information and technical expertise.\nPublish research in peer-reviewed journals and present work at scientific conferences.\nProactively seek out new information in the literature and incorporate this into individual project(s) as well as the overall program.\nSeize opportunities to pursue project relevant leads that are in line with the group’s strategy.\nMaintain a high level of productivity in the lab.\nUnderstand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.\nMay mentor/supervise a team of one or more and guide and evaluate the performance of those individuals; is accountable for the effective performance of the team/individuals.\nRepresent analytical function in the CMC program team; represent the Analytical Development Group as a subject matter expert on cross functional teams. Lead the development of analytical control strategy for biologic programs \nPlan and author internal technical reports as well as relevant CMC sections of regulatory submissions (INDs/CTDs).\nIdentify and lead analytical innovations to further scientific capability of the group.\n PhD Degree and 0-4+ years or MS with 10+ years of experience within Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science (or related discipline) in industry or academia. \nPossess thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own scientific discipline.\nEffective writer and communicator of research or other regulatory materials.\nMust have strong written and verbal communications skills.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nAbility to work effectively cross-functionally in anticipating and responding to overall program development needs\nDemonstrated record of independent thought, creativity and scientific accomplishment \nSelf-motivated with the ability to act with urgency and passion\nAbility to make thoughtful, integrated, timely and meaningful recommendations and/or decision and take corresponding actions\nExperience with CMC analytical development of monoclonal antibodies or related biotherapeutic proteins is a plus.\nKey Leadership Competencies:\nDelivers business results while also positioning AbbVie for long-term success\nRaises the bar and is never satisfied with the status quo\nCreates a learning environment, open to suggestions and experimentation for improvement\nEmbraces the ideas of others, nurtures innovation and manages innovation to reality\n Applicable only to applicants applying to a position in any location with pay disclosure requirements under state or local law:\nThe compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position.
