The successful\ncandidate will design, develop, deploy, and support in-house business\napplications, including order automation, tablet ordering, maintenance,\nfood-safety, and other operational solutions.\n\nThe role involves working closely with department managers and users to\nunderstand business requirements, develop effective solutions, integrate\napplications with existing systems, and ensure reliable and secure deployment.\nThe position will report to the IT Manager.\n\nKey Duties:\n\n Design,\n develop, deploy, and maintain web and tablet applications.\n\n Translate\n business requirements and manual processes into practical digital\n solutions.\n\n Develop\n clean, modular, maintainable, and well-documented software.\n\n Take\n ownership of applications from initial requirements through development,\n testing, deployment, and ongoing support.\n\n Take\n over, improve, refactor, and document existing in-house applications.\n\n Integrate\n applications with NetSuite, Microsoft 365, and other business systems\n through APIs.\n\n Develop\n data pipelines supporting Power BI reports and dashboards.\n\n Work\n with users, department managers, suppliers, and service providers on\n software projects and system integrations.\n\nKey Technical Responsibilities:\n\n Develop\n back-end applications using Python, including FastAPI or similar\n frameworks.\n\n Develop\n modern front-end solutions using JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and\n frameworks such as React.\n\n Design\n and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, including T-SQL, stored\n procedures, indexing, query optimisation, backup, and recovery.\n\n Build\n and consume REST APIs and third-party system integrations.\n\n Implement\n secure authentication and role-based access using technologies such as\n OAuth 2.0 and Microsoft Entra ID.\n\n Use Git,\n Docker, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and automated testing as part of\n the software development lifecycle.\n\n Apply\n secure coding practices based on the OWASP Top 10.\n\n Perform\n appropriate security testing, including SAST, DAST, dependency, and secret\n scanning.\n\n Use AI\n development tools responsibly, ensuring AI-generated code is properly\n reviewed, tested, secured, and validated before deployment.\n\n Develop\n practical AI-enabled solutions where appropriate, with suitable testing\n and human oversight.\n\n Ensure\n appropriate logging, monitoring, backup, recovery, and controlled\n deployment between test and live environments.\n\n Ensure\n personal data is handled in accordance with the Mauritius Data Protection\n Act 2017.\n\nKey Qualifications :\n\n Degree\n in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a\n related field, or equivalent proven professional experience.\n\n More\n than 5 years of professional software development experience, including\n full-stack applications successfully designed, deployed, and supported.\n\n Strong\n practical experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL Server, REST\n APIs, Git, Docker, and CI/CD.\n\n Experience\n with React, FastAPI, or comparable modern development frameworks.\n\n Good\n knowledge of secure application development, authentication, access\n control, automated testing, and application security.\n\n Practical\n experience using AI coding tools, together with the ability to review,\n test, and validate their output.\n\n Experience\n deploying and supporting applications on Windows, Linux, or cloud\n environments.\n\n Ability\n to take ownership of existing codebases and manage multiple development\n projects.\n\n Good\n written and spoken English and French.\n\nKey Competencies : \n\n Strong\n analytical, problem-solving, and software development skills.\n\n Ability\n to understand business requirements and translate them into practical\n technical solutions.\n\n Strong\n attention to software quality, security, testing, and documentation.\n\n Ability\n to work independently and manage applications throughout their lifecycle.\n\n Good\n communication skills when working with both technical and non-technical\n users.\n\n Organised,\n accountable, proactive, and able to manage several projects effectively.\n\nThis is more than a software development role.
