This team provides accounting and financial services to our city, county, and special district clients. Our services include fractional CFO and staffing, long-term planning, budgeting/forecasting, audit preparation, process improvement, utility rate analysis, research/policy drafting, and software implementation.\nAt Abdo, we’re not your typical accounting firm. We carefully seek out the best people and trust them to make a difference in helping our clients navigate forward with confidence.\nOur culture is built on the following principles:\nRelationships- We give our best to our clients and to each other.\nGrowth & Development - We get better every day.\nTeamwork - We accomplish great things together.\nKey responsibilities include:\nPerform a variety of accounting and consulting services, such as:Consult and communicate with all levels of client accounting & finance teams\nProcess and post day-to-day accounting transactions\nReview clients' internal financials and internal team work for accuracy\nPerform period-end closes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations\nPrepare financial statements and internal management reports\nProvide clients with fully-customized and user-friendly dashboards, metrics, and analytical reporting\nCollaborate on the budget and long-term planning process for clients\nAssist with year-end close and preparation of work papers for the annual audit, where appropriate\nShare strategic guidance on key accounting and financial management issues\nAdvise and provide insight into client specific industries and the marketplace\nContribute to process evaluations and special analysis projects\nImplement integrated technology solutions for client accounting teams and provide ongoing support\nMaintain financial data, records and reports in accordance with guidelines, procedures, and regulations\nPrepare sales and use tax returns\nProvide documentation and support for the client audits\n\nCoordinate project assignments and workflow for team members, providing day-to-day guidance, support, and technical training as needed\nDemonstrate progression in application of knowledge on more complex engagements\nProvide initial review of entry-level work performed by interns and associates \nHarness effective, firm-approved technological solutions to provide clients with comprehensive accounting and financial information; Utilize AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and accuracy, while exercising appropriate professional judgement\nExercise discretion and judgement when working with confidential client matters\nIdeal Senior Associate candidate has:\nBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field\n3+ years of relevant experience, public accounting or audit experience preferred\nCPA or plans to pursue CPA preferred\nExperience in the local government/utility industry and/or governmental accounting preferred\nKnowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, various software applications and pertinent federal and state regulations\nProficient in advanced MS-Excel functions\nDesire to work in a fast-paced environment\nCollaborative spirit and adaptability to change\nAttracting, developing, and retaining the best employees are our highest priorities at Abdo. The estimated base pay range for this role is $75,500 - $100,500. Offers are typically made below the maximum to allow room for future compensation increases in the role.
