In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the distribution function and fleet to ensure the safe handling, distribution and delivery of bulk and bagged flour to our customers, in accordance with all legal and company requirements.\nKey Accountabilities\nManage and control the day to day movements of own fleet and sub-contractor resources in line with planning arrangements.\nRecommend corrections to the delivery schedule based on operational expertise and demand intelligence to maintain a full and effective control of the delivery and service levels.\nControl and monitor sub-contractor usage and cost.\nLiaise with the mill team to ensure that vehicle loading is maintained and effectively managed to maintain full and complete production.\nLiaise effectively with colleague FLMs and TLs and ensure that informative shift handovers take place. \nMaintain and improve health, safety, environmental and food safety standards, supporting the local HSE team.\nPlan all fleet maintenance, testing and hygiene events.\nResponsible for ensuring that maintenance standards comply with legal and company requirements at a local level and to brief the Logistics Manager in regard to servicing and vehicle MOT adherence.\nResponsible for ensuring compliance with the company’s policies and procedures regarding tachograph management.\nResponsible for ensuring back to work interviews, driver appraisals, and driver disciplinary hearings are carried out in-line with Allied Mills policy.\nEnsure that the Isotrak vehicle telematics system is fully deployed and updated daily within the department with designated management reports being extracted and acted upon. \nResponsible for ensuring driver worksheets are routinely collected and that all information is reported into DIMS.\nControl and manage Manchester distribution office staff holidays ensuring consistent cover is always achieved across all shifts (24/7 operation).\nCollate local KPI information for the Logistics Manager on both a weekly and period basis.\nWill advise the Logistics Manager and planners of driver hours usage/availability to maximise own driver resource at all times.\nCreate, issue and receipt purchase orders as required.\nAttend local kpi and management meetings as required.\nDeputise for the Logistics Manager in their absence.\nThe Right Person\nA great customer focus with a flexible and adaptable approach.\nSelf-motivated and able to work on your own initiative, be punctual and reliable.\nCPC Qualification\nDemonstratable experience of leading a team in a similar role\nPrevious experience in comparable FMCG role (desirable)\nPC literate, including a working ability with Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Word; capable of using Distribution Management Systems.\nGood numeracy and literacy skills\nStrong analytical skills\nStrong communication skills","description_format":"text","description_chars":3148,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-29T07:57:46Z"}],"liveness":{"score":82,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.818,"p_room":1,"age_days":6,"expected_fill_days":22,"reasons":["conf:3","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-01T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/abf-distribution-team-leader","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/abf-distribution-team-leader.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-01T19:23:03Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":1936,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":3064,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-02T00:00:00Z"}}}
