As a Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure. Your expertise will contribute to the seamless operation of the customer systems, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security. You will work collaboratively with the IT team to support various projects and initiatives on both classified and unclassified networks.\nThe right candidate will possess the below skills and qualifications and be ready to handle all responsibilities independently and professionally.\nResponsibilities\nLeads and manages the deployment of network solutions across various geographic locations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.\n\nOversees the installation, configuration, and testing of network hardware and software, including routers, switches, and firewalls.\n\nCoordinates with cross-functional teams (engineering, deployment, IA) to ensure smooth deployment and integration of network systems.\n\nEnsures adherence to network design and security best practices, including implementation of redundancies, scalability, and fault-tolerant solutions.\n\nCreates detailed project plans, manage timelines, track progress, and address any issues that arise during the deployment lifecycle.\n\nDesign, engineer, and implement local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), Data Center networks, and other network-related technologies.\n\nPerforms network configuration and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and security.\n\nCollaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate network solutions for new and existing systems.\n\nConducts thorough risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.\n\nMaintains thorough documentation of network deployment processes, configurations, and troubleshooting logs.\n\nPerforms site surveys to assess site readiness and determine deployment needs.\n\nProvides technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and deployment staff.\n\nCollaborates with network architects to ensure designs are aligned with deployment requirements.\n\nTroubleshoots and resolve any network issues that arise during deployment and post-deployment phases.\n\nEnsures compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.\n\nConducts regular maintenance and firmware upgrades on critical network infrastructure.\n\nCreates required engineering documentation for network related projects.\n\nProvides on-call support and response for critical system emergencies, as required.\n\nThis position is 100% onsite in Lorton, VA.\nQualifications\nClearance Required: Active TS/SCI\nDegree and Years of Experience: Bachelor's degree in technology related field with 8+ years of experience with Network Engineering in an enterprise environment (or equivalent experience).\nDesired Certifications:\nIAT Level II baseline certification as defined by DoD 8570.01 (Security +)\n\nCisco and/or Juniper certifications\n\nRequired Skills:\nDesign, deploy, and maintain Cisco ISE solutions for classified enterprise-scale environments.\n\nConfigure and optimize 802.1X authentication for wired networks.\n\nIntegrate ISE with Active Directory, PKI, and other identity sources for centralized policy management.\n\nImplement and manage MAC Authentication Bypass (MAB) for non-802.1X capable devices.\n\nDevelop and maintain network access policies, VLAN assignments, and posture assessments.\n\nTroubleshoot authentication issues using tools like Wireshark, Splunk and ISE logs.\n\nCollaborate with network, security, and endpoint teams to ensure smooth rollouts and minimal user disruption.\n\nDocument configurations, processes, and best practices for operational handover.\n\nSolid experience with routing and switching technologies (e.g., Cisco, Juniper).\n\nIn-depth knowledge of L2/L3 network protocols/technologies (TCP/IP, iBGP, eBGP, OSPF, VLANs, 802.1q, LAG, etc.) and network security best practices.\n\nExperience with network management tools and network monitoring systems.\n\nProven leadership skills and experience managing cross-functional teams or projects.\n\nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach to addressing network deployment challenges.\n\nExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.\n\nDesired Skills:\nExperience supporting classified networks.\n\nExperience in ensuring Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance.\n\nSupport to DHS Programs Knowledge/Experience.\n\nCOMSEC.\n\nSolar Winds.\n\nNetwork Automation.\n\nAbout Abile Group, Inc.\nAbile Group, founded in July 2004 to support the Intelligence Community and its contractors across Enterprise Analytics, IT & Systems Engineering, and Program & Project Management, merged with Valiant Solutions in January 2026 - an established provider of cybersecurity technologies and services for Federal Agencies since 2005.
