This is an opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team focusing on the educational programming for all children at every level of ability. Teacher Assistants will attend to the daily needs of the children, assist the teacher in carrying out classroom activities, and cover the classroom in the absence of the teacher. Experience within early childhood & special education, and NYS Teacher Assistant Certification required for Teacher Assistant level position.\nSchedule:\nMonday - Friday 8:00 am-3:00 pm, 32.5 hours per week, 48 weeks per year (includes a 6-week summer program)\nPay Range:\nTeacher Assistant Level I - $18.04 - $19.04 per hour\nTeacher Assistant Level II - $18.77 - $19.77 per hour\nTeacher Assistant Level III - $ 19.28 - $20.28 per hour\nResponsibilities:\nAssumes responsibility of the classroom in the absence of the Classroom Teacher.\nFollows classroom schedule ensuring that individual student therapies and IEP goals are implemented, and appropriate data is collected to ensure those goals.\nAssists students using classroom educational computer programs.\nAssists the Classroom Teacher and Teacher Aides in the preparation and development of teacher made materials.\nAssists in the organization and arrangement of the classroom in order to provide a conducive learning environment to meet each student’s individual needs.\nAssists in general housekeeping skills.\nEscorts and assists students to and from school buses providing opportunities for increased independence in orientation and mobility.\nProvides an adequate and safe level of supervision to students and where a question rises to the level of adequacy seeks guidance from immediate supervisor and/or Program Director.\nAssists in classroom according to staffing patterns and children’s needs i.e.: all stages of toileting, conducting small group and individual activities, giving snack and lunch, providing playground supervision, etc.\nAttends professional/general staff meetings and in-service training in agency, district, and community, and shares knowledge with other teaching staff. (Minimum of 30 hours every 2 years). \nAttends trainings and participate in webinars for the designated curriculum for UPK and implement into all aspects of the classroom.\nEnsures that employees follow the Code of Ethical and Legal Behavior and conform to the strictest standards of Corporate Compliance and HIPAA, as well as all federal, state, local and municipal laws and regulations.\nIncorporates core concepts of CQL philosophy into day-to-day operation and support methods.\nSupports agency vision and mission.\nFollows all agency policy and procedures and demonstrates continuous regard to personal safety and safety to others. \nPerforms other appropriate job-related activities as required by immediate supervisor, program director, or as circumstances warrant.\nRequirements\nPhysical Demands\nHave the ability to push and pull students in wheelchairs, lift, bend, squat, turn in the knees, pivot and grasp with both hands (in order to properly and safely perform the techniques taught in CPR/First Aid, behavior intervention techniques, and lifting and carrying techniques), with or without a reasonable accommodation. \nPossess verbal and written communication skills, in English, to ensure adequate regulatory documentation.\n*Eligibility requirements may apply\nQualifications:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nNYS Teacher Assistant Certification.\nExperience working with children and/or adults with disabilities a plus!\nNOTE: The salary range represents the expected range of compensation for this position exclusive of fringe benefits or other job specific stipends where applicable.
