In this role, you will work in an international environment developing critical control and protection software for future-ready grid stability solutions.\n\nAbout the role\n\nIn this position, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and verifying embedded software used in power electronics applications. You will own the full software development lifecycle-from initial requirements analysis to implementation, system integration, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) validation.\n\nWorking closely with hardware engineers, FPGA developers, software architects, and testing teams across global locations (UK, USA, India, and Finland), you will help ensure software designs meet strict reliability, safety, and performance standards.\n\nWork tasks\n\nDesign & Implementation: Develop embedded C/C++ software for real-time control systems.\n\nArchitecture & Requirements: Maintain software requirement specifications and architecture documentation, ensuring full traceability in JIRA.\n\nQuality & Reliability: Perform unit testing, code reviews, and static analysis to uphold internal safety and quality standards.\n\nTesting & Validation: Support system-level validation and HIL testing activities.\n\nProblem Solving: Analyze and debug complex runtime, timing, or integration issues in laboratory environments.\n\nContinuous Improvement: Contribute to enhancing software development processes and tooling.\n\nWe are looking for\n\nEducation: Degree (M.Sc. or B.Sc.) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.\n\nExperience: Solid background in embedded software development (C/C++) for real-time systems.\n\nTechnical Skills: Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS, e.g., VxWorks).\n\nHands-on experience with embedded development tools and debuggers.\n\nUnderstanding of hardware-software interfaces and FPGA/microcontroller architectures.\n\nExperience with version control systems (Git) and defect tracking tools (JIRA).\n\nMindset & Communication: A structured, proactive approach to problem-solving with fluent professional English.\n\nBonus Points:\n\nExperience with energy grid systems or power electronics (e.g., HVDC, FACTS, STATCOM).\n\nKnowledge of communication protocols (e.g., IEC61850, DNP3).\n\nExperience with MATLAB/Simulink code generation or high-power laboratory testing equipment\n\nOur recruitment process\n\nThis recruitment process is handled by Academic Work and it is our client's wish that all questions regarding the position is directed to Academic Work.\n\nOur selection process is continuous and the advert may close before the recruitment process is completed if we have moved forward to the next phase.
