Founded to commercialize Department of Energy-funded research, we completed our Series A funding round and are working with leading research institutions like the Paul Scherrer Institute and Oak Ridge National Laboratory at the forefront of fusion energy innovation. Headquartered in Cambridge, MA, we are a growing startup of about 20 employees. As a key member of our small and dynamic team, you'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our technology and shape the future of both our company and the field of fusion energy.\nAbout this role\nWe’re looking for a hands-on, scientifically-minded individual to join our team as a Junior/Associate Lab Technician. In this role, you will be instrumental in the fabrication of parts and assembly of components for our cutting-edge muon-catalyzed fusion research apparatus. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience across all aspects of our research, including mechanical, electrical, chemical, and vacuum systems. It is ideal for someone passionate about building and excited to contribute to ground-breaking fusion research.\nWhat you’ll do:\nExperimental Assembly & Monitoring: Build and assemble precision components, leak-test vacuum hardware, and assist in monitoring experiments during active runs.\nFabrication & Machining: Program and operate CNC mills, lathes, and 3D printers to create prototype parts. (We are happy to train the right candidate on advanced CNC workflows).\nShop Stewardship: Assist in the setup, organization, and safety of our machine shop in Cambridge.\nField Integration: Travel with the team for several weeks per year to help install, align, and troubleshoot mechanical systems at partner labs in Switzerland, Vancouver, and New York.\nDesign Support: Collaborate with scientists and engineers to improve designs for manufacturability.\nWhat we’re looking for:\nRecent graduate with a degree in Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or related technical field, or comparable work experience in a technical laboratory or manufacturing environment.\nA “maker” history with a strong portfolio of projects you’ve built or worked on. \nFamiliarity with CAD software, and experience with CNC machining or a strong desire to learn.\nDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex systems in a fast-paced, startup environment.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively within a small, tight-knit team.\nHands-on experience with low-voltage wiring and control circuits.\nPreferred qualifications (not required):\nExperience with Solidworks.\nHands-on familiarity with vacuum, cryogenic, or pneumatic systems.\nBasic experience with welding (MIG/TIG/Laser).\nDetails & Logistics:\nThis is a full-time, onsite role working from our facility in Cambridge, MA. Preference will be given to candidates already in the Greater Boston area.\nTravel (including international) for several weeks per year is required.\nOur benefits package includes health & dental insurance, retirement savings with company contribution, stock options, paid time off, and 11 company holidays.\nThe salary range for this role is $50K to $70K. The specific salary offered will be determined based on relevant factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location. This position may also be eligible for additional compensation such as bonuses, equity, or other benefits.\nSuccessful applications will include pictures of parts you have made or machines/systems you have built.\nAcceleron Fusion is an equal opportunity employer, committed to building a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive workplace. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of background.","description_format":"text","description_chars":3942,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Dental insurance","Equity","Stock options"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-23T22:04:42Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":3,"expected_fill_days":42,"reasons":["conf:2","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-27T05:46:45Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":70000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/acceleron-fusion-associate-lab-technician","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/acceleron-fusion-associate-lab-technician.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-27T23:49:38Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":16010,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-28T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":3862588},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=3862588"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Facceleron-fusion-associate-lab-technician"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Facceleron-fusion-associate-lab-technician"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Facceleron-fusion-associate-lab-technician"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/acceleron-fusion-associate-lab-technician\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Facceleron-fusion-associate-lab-technician"}]}
