Senior SAP IS-U Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP IS-U (Industry Solution for Utilities) Consultant to join our Utilities Transformation team. You will play a pivotal role in designing, configuring, and delivering end-to-end SAP IS-U solutions covering the full utilities business cycle - from device management and meter reading through to billing, invoicing, and customer services. You will work closely with business stakeholders, functional teams, and technical architects to ensure solution quality and alignment with industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Requirements Gathering & Gap Analysis - Collaborate with Utilities Operations, Finance, and IT teams to elicit business requirements, identify process gaps, and translate them into functional SAP IS-U specifications.
• Process Mapping - Analyze and document existing utilities business processes (meter-to-cash, move-in/move-out, billing, dunning) and map them to SAP IS-U capabilities and best practices.
• Solution Design & Configuration - Lead functional design and hands-on configuration across core IS-U modules, including Device Management, Meter Reading, Billing & Invoicing, Rate Configuration, and Contract Management.
• Integration Design** - Define and support integration between IS-U and adjacent SAP components (FI-CA, CRM, GIS, MDM, and third-party metering systems).
• Testing - Prepare comprehensive test scenarios (unit, integration, and UAT), coordinate end-to-end testing cycles, and support business users during test execution and defect resolution.
• Cutover & Go-Live Support - Plan and execute cutover activities, support data migration validation, and provide hyper care assistance during and after go-live.
• Mentoring - Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to junior team members and client functional leads.

• 6+ years of hands-on SAP IS-U configuration and consulting experience, with at least two full-cycle IS-U implementations.
• Proven expertise across the core IS-U functional areas:
• Device Management (DM) - installation structures, equipment, meters, logical devices, and registers
• Meter Reading (MR) - meter reading orders, meter reading units, consumption history, and estimation
• Billing & Invoicing - billing master data, billing schemas, rate types, rate categories, and price determination
• Rate Configuration - operands, time-of-use (TOU) rates, demand billing, and tariff structures
• Contract Management - move-in / move-out (MICO) processes, contract accounts, and service orders
• Dunning & Collections - dunning procedures, payment plans, and disconnection/reconnection processing
• Strong working knowledge of SAP FI-CA (Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable), including postings, clearing, payments, and account maintenance.
• Solid understanding of the Meter-to-Cash (M2C) business process within regulated utility environments.
• Experience with IS-U print workbench and bill presentment / correspondence configuration.
• Familiarity with IS-U integration to SAP CRM / S/4HANA Service for customer interaction management.
• Ability to prepare functional specifications, configuration workbooks, and test scripts to a professional standard.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Utilities and the transition path from classic IS-U.
• Knowledge of SAP Energy Data Management (EDM) and smart meter / advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) integration.
• Exposure to SAP Convergent Invoicing (CI) or SAP Convergent Charging (CC).
• Familiarity with SAP Fiori apps for Utilities (e.g., Manage Meter Reading, Customer 360).
• Experience with EDI message formats used in regulated energy markets.
• Prior experience in deregulated electricity environments.
