In this role, you will work on scalable backend systems, data processing flows, API integrations, and cloud-based architectures, collaborating closely with mobile, DevOps, Product, and other engineering teams.\nYou will be expected to take ownership of backend features and system behavior end to end, with a strong focus on reliability, performance, observability, and maintainability.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain production-grade backend services using Python as the primary programming language.\nBuild and integrate REST APIs for internal and external consumers.\nWork with AWS cloud services, including compute, storage, networking, and common cloud architecture patterns.\nDevelop and maintain data processing flows, including batch, streaming, or near real-time pipelines.\nIntegrate backend services with external systems, third-party APIs, and AI inference services.\nDesign and work with relational and/or NoSQL databases, depending on system requirements.\nContribute to event-driven architectures using queues, messaging systems, or similar patterns.\nCollaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines, deployments, versioning, and environment management.\nImplement and improve logging, monitoring, and observability practices to support production systems.\nDebug complex production issues across multiple services and identify root causes.\nEnsure backend systems are scalable, reliable, performant, and maintainable.\nCollaborate with mobile, Product, DevOps, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.\nParticipate in agile ceremonies and contribute to planning, estimation, and technical decision-making.\nProactively identify risks, technical dependencies, and opportunities for system improvements.\n Must Have\nStrong professional experience as a Backend Engineer, with solid experience in Python.\nExperience building and maintaining production-grade backend services.\nGood understanding of REST API design, implementation, and integration.\nPractical experience with AWS cloud services and basic cloud architecture patterns.\nExperience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.\nUnderstanding of data processing concepts, such as incoming data streams, batch processing, or near real-time flows.\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, versioning, and environment management.\nExperience with logging, monitoring, and observability tools for debugging production systems.\nStrong problem-solving skills, especially in distributed or multi-service environments.\nAbility to debug complex issues across services, systems, and integrations.\nGood communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.\nOwnership mindset and accountability for feature quality and system behavior.\nAttention to performance, reliability, scalability, and long-term maintainability.\nAbility to understand the wider system impact of technical decisions.\nComfortable working in agile teams and adapting to changing priorities.\nRegular use of AI tools to improve productivity, automate or reduce repetitive work, support decision-making, and deliver higher-quality outcomes.\nAbility to use AI tools responsibly by structuring effective prompts, critically validating outputs, understanding limitations, and taking ownership of the final result.\nNice to Have\nBasic understanding of or exposure to Go.\nExperience with event-driven architectures, queues, messaging systems, or asynchronous processing.\nExperience integrating with AI inference services or machine learning-related APIs.\nExperience designing backend systems that handle high-volume or performance-sensitive workloads.\nFamiliarity with infrastructure-as-code, containerization, or orchestration tools.\nExperience working closely with mobile engineering teams.\nExperience in systems where reliability, observability, and production support are critical.\nAs a people-first organisation, we believe diversity strengthens our teams and drives innovation.
