Commissioned by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA), the project will add two 16-mile express lanes from Sandy Springs MARTA Station (Exit 5) to McFarland (Exit 12), enhancing mobility along one of Georgia’s busiest corridors. With a peak workforce of over 500, the project also includes dedicated bus rapid transit stations and significant improvements to the corridor. Construction began in late 2022, with substantial completion anticipated in 2031.The Assistant Superintendent will support field operations across multiple work zones within the SR400 Express Lanes corridor, working closely with the General Superintendent and other team members to ensure compliance with GDOT standards, project schedules, and safety requirements. This position will assist in coordinating daily activities, managing subcontractors, and maintaining quality standards across assigned scopes of work.\nJob Description\nAssist in coordinating work across multiple segments of the corridor, supporting oversight of foremen, field engineers, and subcontractors.\n\nCollaborate with the Project Controls and Scheduling teams to maintain alignment with the Primavera P6 baseline schedule and weekly look-aheads.\n\nMonitor and support construction activities such as bridge structures, earthwork, temporary traffic control, utility relocation, and storm drainage in compliance with GDOT TP Attachments.\n\nServe as a liaison between field crews and project management, ensuring timely communication and documentation.\n\nHelp enforce safety standards and participate in safety audits and inspections.\n\nAssist in reviewing subcontractor work plans, schedules, and material/equipment needs.\n\nSupport daily reporting of progress, manpower, and equipment utilization.\n\nParticipate in coordination meetings and help resolve field issues promptly.\n\nEnsure compliance with environmental and traffic control plans.\n\nAssist with documentation for quality control, including GDOT Standard Specs and SRTA requirements.\n\nRequired Skills and Competencies\nMinimum of 5 years of heavy civil construction experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant superintendent role.\n\nExperience with highway or bridge projects preferred; GDOT or other Southeastern DOT experience is a plus.\n\nBachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).\n\nKnowledge of GDOT specifications, safety standards, and traffic control requirements.\n\nFamiliarity with project management software and documentation tools (e.g., Procore, HCSS).\n\nStrong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.\n\nAbility to read and interpret construction documents, schedules, and traffic control plans.\n\nCommitment to safety and quality standards\n\nACCIONA has been given the Top Employer 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025 certification in US, as well as the Top Employers North America 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025 seal, which certifies the company's commitment to excellence in human resources management and those who focus on putting their people first through their exceptional HR policies.
