This role manages full cycle project accounting, including payables, receivables, tax filings, accruals, and month-end and year-end close. The Project Accountant prepares monthly financial reports, monitors costs, revenues, and cash flow, and ensures compliance with budgets, accounting standards, and internal controls.\nPerform full-cycle accounting activities, including managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, holdback accounts, HST filings, accruals, and other related tasks. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.\nPrepare and maintain monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.\nMonitor project costs, expenses, and revenues, ensuring accuracy and compliance with budgetary constraints.\nReview and reconcile project-related accounts, including payables, receivables, and general ledger accounts.\nCollaborate with project managers to track project progress and identify potential cost overruns or savings opportunities.\nConduct regular financial audits and reviews to ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.\nProvide financial analysis and support to project teams, including variance analysis, cost benefit analysis, and cash flow projections.\nCoordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies as needed.\nStay informed about changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices related to project accounting.\nRequired Skills and Competencies\nBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.\nRequired Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.\n5+ years proven experience as an accountant, preferably in the construction industry.\nStrong understanding of accounting principles and practices.\nProficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle.\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nDetail-oriented with a high level of accuracy. \nAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment\nTotal compensation for this role includes an annual salary in the range of $85K - $125K depending on working experience, education, and certifications, benefits, vacation pay, sick pay, training , and RSP matching contribution.\nWe are committed to creating an accessible and barrier-free recruitment process and workplace.
