Commissioned by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Georgia State Road Tollway Authority (SRTA), the project will add two 16-mile express lanes from Sandy Springs MARTA Station (Exit 5) to McFarland (Exit 12), enhancing mobility along one of Georgia’s busiest corridors. With a peak workforce of over 500, the project also includes dedicated bus rapid transit stations and key bridge refurbishments. Construction is set to begin in late 2025, with substantial completion anticipated in 2031.\nThe Structural Engineer will provide construction-phase engineering support for bridge and structural work across the SR400 Express Lanes Project. This role will support the review of structural submittals, temporary works, construction calculations, RFIs, constructability, and field technical issues. The Structural Engineer will work closely with the Technical Director, Designer of Record, drafting team, field engineers, superintendents, quality staff, and other project disciplines to ensure structural work is safe, buildable, and compliant with project requirements.\nRequired Skills and Competencies\nResponsibilities\nProvide structural engineering support to the construction team during the execution of bridge and structural works in concrete and steel\nReview shop drawings, rebar detailing, precast and structural steel submittals, and construction methods for conformance with the design intent and project specifications\nDesign and verify temporary works (formwork, falsework, shoring, lifting plans, erection sequences) and coordinate their review and approval\nPrepare construction-phase calculations and technical documentation, including construction staging analyses, load checks, and field change evaluations\nRespond to RFIs and field technical queries, coordinating with the Designer of Record and the drafting team to resolve issues and implement design changes\nPerform constructability reviews of structural design packages and propose practical, cost-effective solutions to the construction team\nApply relevant structural codes and standards, including AASHTO LRFD, GDOT specifications, ACI, AISC, and other applicable national and international regulations\nSupport field engineers, superintendents, and QC staff with technical guidance on construction tolerances, inspections, and non-conformance resolution\nParticipate in multidisciplinary coordination with roadway, geotechnical, drainage, and construction teams, ensuring smooth interfaces between design and construction\nSupport the Technical Director with accurate analyses, technical input, and engineering solutions throughout the construction stages\nExperience/ Qualifications\nDegree in Civil Engineering or equivalent; MSc preferred\n5-10 years of experience in structural design and analysis of bridge structures\nStrong knowledge of concrete and steel structural design, including relevant codes and regulations\nProficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, CUBUS, Sofistik, or similar tools\nAbility to produce and review detailed structural calculations and drawings with sound engineering judgment\nExperience working within design-build or large infrastructure projects is an asset\nStrong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines\nStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain one, is a plus\nACCIONA has been given the Top Employer 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025 certification in US, as well as the Top Employers North America 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025 seal, which certifies the company's commitment to excellence in human resources management and those who focus on putting their people first through their exceptional HR policies.
