For our conferencing & events guests we have 6 modern function rooms available, accommodating up to 500 delegates.\nAre you a hands-on leader with a passion for engineering excellence, hotel operations and creating exceptional guest experiences?\nNovotel Surfers Paradise is seeking an experienced and motivated Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering Department and ensure our hotel facilities, infrastructure and assets are maintained to the highest standards of safety, compliance, efficiency and presentation.\nThis is a key leadership role within the hotel, responsible for protecting and enhancing our physical assets while driving operational excellence, sustainability initiatives and team performance.\nAbout the Role\nReporting directly to the General Manager, you will oversee all aspects of hotel engineering, maintenance, compliance and capital works. You will lead a dedicated engineering team, manage contractors and suppliers, and ensure a safe, efficient and well-maintained environment for guests, Heartists and visitors.\nAs a member of the Hotel Executive Team, you will contribute strategically to achieving business objectives while supporting Accor's culture, values and guest service standards.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead and manage the day-to-day operation of the Engineering Department.\nDevelop and execute preventative maintenance programs across all hotel assets.\nEnsure compliance with all WH&S, fire safety, environmental and statutory requirements.\nOversee maintenance of:HVAC systems\nElectrical infrastructure\nPlumbing and hydraulic systems\nFire protection systems\nBuilding Management Systems (BMS)\nCommercial kitchen and laundry equipment\nGuest rooms and public areas\nPools, spa and recreational facilities\nLifts and escalators\n\nManage maintenance budgets, utilities and capital expenditure projects.\nLead sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.\nManage contractors, service providers and supplier relationships.\nParticipate in strategic planning and hotel leadership initiatives.\nEnsure all engineering activities support an exceptional guest experience.\n What You'll Bring...\nEssential:\nTrade qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Building Services or related discipline.\nPrevious leadership experience in hotel engineering, facilities management or a comparable environment.\nStrong knowledge of building systems, preventative maintenance and asset management.\nSound understanding of Australian WH&S legislation and compliance requirements.\nExperience managing maintenance budgets and capital projects.\nStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.\nExceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.\nAbility to lead, coach and develop high-performing teams.\nDesirable:\nPrevious hospitality or hotel industry experience.\nBuilding Management Systems (BMS) experience.\nProject Management qualifications.\nFire Safety Adviser certification.\nPool Plant Operator certification.\nFirst Aid and CPR certification.\n Why Join Novotel and Accor?\nAt Accor, we are more than a worldwide leader in hospitality.
