Delano Miami Beach acts as the brand’s flagship location, re-establishing Delano as a trailblazer in luxury lifestyle hospitality.\n JOB OVERVIEW:\nUnder the general guidance of the General Manager, the Director of Engineering establishes and directs overall maintenance and safety objectives for the property. This role ensures deadlines are met and initiatives are successfully carried out while providing leadership to the engineering department. The Director is responsible for managing the hotel’s appearance, equipment, and systems, ensuring a safe environment guests and staff. This position involves supervising all work and repairs performed by operating engineers to maintain high operational standards.\nYOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nEstablish and maintain strong working relationships with senior management, staff, and key partners to support engineering and facility management functions.\nDevelop and implement short and long term strategies for facility management and engineering across the organization.\nDefine, maintain, and improve service levels and support models to protect capital investments and ensure optimal workplace environments.\nManage operating and capital budgets for building repairs, maintenance, and engineering projects.\nOversee third-party vendors to ensure compliance with scope, schedule, budget, service levels, and quality standards.\nEnsure workplace health and safety compliance with all local laws, codes, and company policies for employees and visitors.\nProvide technical expertise on building systems, energy management, and infrastructure, while developing facility engineering standards and procedures.\nLead project management efforts for construction and facility improvement projects, including contract negotiation and administration.\nSupervise the engineering team by prioritizing, scheduling, and ensuring timely completion of maintenance tasks and guest service requests.\nMaintain hotel systems and equipment (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, etc.), while keeping accurate service and repair records.\nCollaborate with other departments and participate in initiatives to improve operational efficiency, sustainability, and guest satisfaction.\nWe recognize we are in the hospitality industry and that may require us to provide lateral service. We will on occasion call for each individual in the team to on a routine basis perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional guest service.\nADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:\nCommunicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear directions to the venue teams.\nCommunicate with team members using a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to and understand requests, respond with appropriate actions and provide accurate information.\nRemain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations.\nMake decisions and take actions based on previous experience and good judgment, sometimes revising procedures to accommodate unusual situations.\n SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:\nCollege Degree in Business, Hospitality, or Related field preferred.\nAt least five (5) years of hand-on maintenance experience and three (3) years supervisory preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel\nProven team leader with a high level of energy and motivation with a proven track record of living the company's values\nAn intermediate to proficient understanding of Computer systems such as: Opera, Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook is preferred\nEnter and locate work related information using computers and/or point of sale systems\nAbility to spend extended lengths of time viewing a computer screen\nPossess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor\nAbility to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and have a high level attention to detail\nMaintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and department\nAbility to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork\nMust be able to stand or walk a minimum eight-hour shift.\nMust be able observant and quick to respond to various situations while also multitasking and handling stressful situations.\nMust be able to twist, tow (push or pull), reach, bend climb and carry objects as necessary.\nMust have excellent communication skills and be able to read, write, speak and understand English.\nMust be able to work inside and outside at all times of the year as needed, based upon business volumes.\nKnowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations\nAll team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
