As a General Accountant you will play a key role in monitoring hotel costs, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring effective inventory management and internal controls. Working closely with the Purchasing, Receiving, Stores, Kitchen, and Food & Beverage teams, you will help optimize operational costs, identify financial variances, and support the hotel’s overall financial performance.\nWhat is in it for you:\nEmployee benefit card offering discounted rates at Accor properties worldwide.\nLearning programs through our Academies and the opportunity to earn qualifications while you work.\nOpportunity to develop your talent and grow within your property and across the world.\nAbility to make a difference in the local community through our Corporate Social Responsibility activities, including Planet 21.\nWhat you will be doing:\nMonitor and control food, beverage, and operating supply costs to ensure compliance with budget and hotel standards.\nConduct daily, weekly, and monthly cost analysis, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.\nVerify purchase orders, market lists, goods received notes, supplier invoices, and related supporting documents.\nConduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile inventory balances with system records.\nMonitor food and beverage costs, consumption, wastage, transfers, and inventory variances.\nReview receiving, storeroom, and issuing procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls.\nPrepare monthly cost reports, inventory reports, variance analysis, and other management reports.\nMonitor operating expenses and investigate unusual cost fluctuations.\nAssist with month-end closing, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and preparation of financial reports.\nEnsure accurate recording of transactions and compliance with hotel financial policies and procedures.\nCoordinate with the Purchasing, Receiving, Stores, Kitchen, and F&B teams to improve cost efficiency.\nSupport budget preparation, forecasting, and implementation of cost-saving initiatives.\n Your experience and skills include:\nBachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\nMinimum 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the hotel or hospitality industry.\nPrevious experience in Cost Control, particularly in food and beverage costing and inventory management, is highly preferred.\nGood understanding of purchasing, receiving, stock control, inventory reconciliation, and cost analysis procedures.\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems; experience with hotel systems such as Futurelog and SunSystems is an advantage.\nStrong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.\nGood attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to meet deadlines.\nGood communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across hotel departments\nYour working environment:\nAlwadi Doha - MGallery Hotel Collection is a distinctive 5-star boutique hotel located within Msheireb Downtown Doha, vibrant new retail, commercial and residential development in the heart of Qatar’s capital, offering 213 luxurious rooms and suites with desirable amenities, a spectacular ballroom, and five class meeting rooms, with variety of restaurants and an exclusive spa and swimming pool.
