Role: Software, Technology & AI Engineer

Location: Orwell, Cambridge

Permanent Position

Are you an experienced Software Engineer with a strong interest in AI and emerging technology, looking for an opportunity where you can have a genuine impact across an entire business?

At Accora, we're looking for a Technology & AI Engineer to help us develop how we use AI, software and technology across our business.

This isn't a role where you'll simply be handed a list of development tasks. We're looking for someone proactive who can understand how different areas of our business operate, identify problems and opportunities, and develop practical technology-led solutions.

Please note: You MUST already be eligible to work in the UK. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.

The Role

Accora is investing heavily in AI and technology, and we're looking for an experienced engineer to play a key role in developing our internal technology capabilities.

You'll work across the business to understand how teams operate, identify opportunities for improvement and then design, develop and implement solutions.

This could include:

  • Developing and improving internal software and applications
  • Building and implementing AI-led solutions
  • Automating manual processes and workflows
  • Improving systems, integrations and reporting
  • Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Identifying technology-led improvements across the business
  • Developing, testing and deploying new solutions
  • Supporting wider technology and AI projects

The key is understanding why an improvement is needed, not just the technology behind it.

You'll need to be comfortable speaking with non-technical colleagues, understanding their challenges and translating these into practical solutions.

We're a fast-moving business, so you'll also need to be adaptable, comfortable with changing priorities and confident taking ownership of projects and seeing them through.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Circa 3-5 years' commercial software engineering experience
  • Strong experience or exposure to AI and its practical application
  • Strong CI/CD pipeline experience
  • Commercial development experience with Python, Java or similar
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and an understanding of clean, maintainable, production-quality code
  • A strong academic background, ideally including a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI or similar
  • Experience developing and delivering software into a commercial environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • The ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical people
  • Full eligibility to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship

Experience within a start-up, scale-up, SME or other fast-moving environment would be particularly interesting, especially if you've worked in a role where you've had broad responsibility and been expected to identify and solve problems independently.

Just as importantly, we're looking for the right person.

You'll need to be proactive, adaptable and comfortable taking ownership. Someone who follows things through, responds well to feedback, communicates effectively across teams and continually looks for ways to improve how things are done.

Benefits

What's On Offer

  • Extensive training and development
  • Opportunity to work across AI, software and emerging technologies
  • Join a growing business investing heavily in AI and technology
  • Work on projects that have a genuine impact across the business

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Software Engineer who wants more ownership and influence than a traditional development role.

You'll have the opportunity to work across the business, identify where technology can make a difference and play a key role in shaping how Accora uses AI and software as we continue to grow.

If you're looking for a role where you can build, experiment, solve problems and have a genuine impact, we'd love to hear from you.
