Tasks and responsibilities require a high level of independence and good time management skills within multi-project environment. In particular a high level of initiative is expected in the technical carriage of the responsibilities for the position.\nAll decisions involving project work or institutional capacity are always made with reference to the Lead Software Engineer and/or Software Development Manager. The Software Engineer (Level 2) has no people management/supervisory responsibilities.\nSkills, knowledge and experience\nProven industry experience in OO Design & Development (real world design patterns, class frameworks)\nCommercial web development experience (PHP, Java)\nDatabase application analysis and design skills (SQL) \nDesign documentation experience (UML)\nExperience creating technical and operational documentation\nStrong understanding of development project lifecycles and methodologies \nExperience in development on multiple platforms (Windows, Mac OSX, Unix)\nWell-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical clients \nCapacity to contribute substantially to the development of multi-faceted business solutions\nAbility to work independently within a team environment with limited supervision\nExcellent organisational and time management skills including the ability to deal with multiple tasks simultaneously \nStrong professional attitude combined with a “can do” approach \nA strong commitment to quality\nWillingness to learn and remain abreast of the latest information regarding new technologies\nQualifications\nBachelor Degree in Computer Science (or relevant equivalent)\nOrganisational accountabilities\nProactively work towards achieving individual, team and organisational objectives while demonstrating ACER’s leadership behaviours:Developing Self - involves self-management, self-reflection and self-improvement\nEmbracing Change - being open to change and leading change when appropriate\nPursuing Excellence - ongoing search for new and better ways of working\nSetting Directions - strategic thinking and planning for the future\nSupporting Colleagues - supporting and contributing to the development of others\nWorking Collaboratively - building highly effective internal and external relationships\n\nActively work to create an equitable, fair and harmonious work environment which is free from harassment, bullying and discrimination by demonstrating respectful and courteous behaviour towards others\nProactively foster an inclusive and diverse work environment which encourages and respects different experiences and perspectives, and values diversity of thought\nComply with all occupational health and safety requirements, including following safe work practices for self and others\nComply with all information security requirements, including completing regular security training and abiding by the standards and procedures laid out in ACER’s Information Security Management System\nWork in accordance with ACER’s policies and procedures\nSalary\n$110,614- $122,261 plus superannuation.
