This role supports production objectives by ensuring quality parts are produced on schedule while maintaining equipment readiness, workplace safety, and operational efficiency.\nThe ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, quality focused, dependable, and capable of identifying and resolving routine machine issues while working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Night Shift Operator plays a critical role in supporting production goals, maintaining material flow, and ensuring ASC's standards for safety, quality, and productivity are achieved.\nShift Information\n Night Shift Schedule: Monday through Friday, 4:30 PM - 3:00 AM (subject to production needs)\n15% Night Shift Differential on all hours worked during regularly scheduled night shift hours\nOvertime opportunities may be available based on production demands\nKey Responsibilities\nMachine Setup & Operation\nSet up and operate Trumpf 3060 laser cutting equipment according to production schedules, work instructions, and engineering requirements.\nReview work orders, nesting programs, blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications prior to production.\nVerify material type, thickness, cutting parameters, and machine settings before processing.\nPerform machine startup, shutdown, and routine operational checks.\nMonitor cutting performance to ensure quality, machine reliability, and production efficiency.\nMaximize material utilization while maintaining safety and quality standards.\nMaterial Handling\nVerify steel plate material, grade, thickness, and job requirements before processing.\nSafely load, position, and unload steel plate using overhead cranes, forklifts, and approved material-handling equipment.\nRemove finished parts, remnants, skeletons, slag, and scrap from the cutting area.\nMaintain proper material identification and organization throughout the production process.\nProtect raw materials and finished components from damage during handling and staging.\nQuality Assurance\nInspect edge quality, dimensions, hole quality, and overall cut performance during production.\nIdentify nonconforming materials, parts, or cutting conditions and take appropriate corrective action.\nCommunicate quality concerns to supervision and Quality personnel when issues cannot be resolved at the machine.\nSupport ASC's commitment to delivering quality products that meet customer and engineering requirements.\nTroubleshooting & Problem Solving\nTroubleshoot routine machine and cutting issues, including consumable wear, poor cut quality, machine alarms, incomplete cuts, and programming concerns.\nMake safe operator-level adjustments to restore production when appropriate.\nEscalate equipment, quality, or safety concerns that require maintenance or management intervention.\nCommunicate recurring operational issues to support long-term corrective action and process improvement.\nEquipment Care & Preventive Maintenance\nPerform required daily inspections and operator-level preventive maintenance activities.\nInspect and replace approved consumable components as needed.\nMaintain cutting surfaces, nozzles, optics, gas systems, and other operator-maintained equipment.\nKeep equipment and surrounding work areas free of excessive scrap, slag, and debris.\nReport abnormal machine conditions, maintenance concerns, and equipment damage promptly.\nSafety & Housekeeping\nFollow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.\nSafely operate cranes, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment in accordance with company standards.\nMaintain awareness of suspended loads, sharp edges, moving equipment, hot materials, and other manufacturing hazards.\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout each shift.\nImmediately report unsafe conditions, near misses, equipment damage, and safety concerns.\nDocumentation & Communication\nComplete production records, inspection documents, maintenance logs, and material records accurately.\nTrack production quantities, downtime, scrap, quality concerns, and machine issues.\nMaintain material traceability and product identification requirements.\nProvide detailed shift handoff communication regarding machine status, production priorities, quality concerns, and work in progress.\nShift Responsibilities\nDemonstrate reliability, accountability, and independent decision-making during shift operations.\nMaintain productivity and attention to detail throughout the shift.\nFollow production priorities and communicate scheduling concerns when necessary.\nExercise sound judgment when troubleshooting equipment and quality issues.\nSupport team objectives through cooperation, material flow assistance, housekeeping, and production support activities. \nWhat We're Looking For\nHigh School Diploma or GED required.\nPrevious manufacturing, fabrication, CNC, laser cutting, or industrial equipment operating experience preferred.\nExperience operating laser cutting equipment, CNC machinery, or similar manufacturing systems preferred.\nAbility to read blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and production documentation.\nExperience operating overhead cranes and forklifts preferred or ability to obtain certification.\nStrong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.\nAbility to work independently while maintaining productivity and accountability.\nEffective communication and teamwork skills.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with minimal supervision.\nCommitment to safety, quality, reliability, and continuous improvement. \nPhysical & Work Requirements\nAbility to frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive manufacturing activities throughout the shift.\nAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., utilizing mechanical lifting devices or assistance when appropriate.\nAbility to safely handle steel components that may contain sharp edges.\nAbility to work around large industrial machinery, moving materials, and material-handling equipment.\nAbility to wear required personal protective equipment at all times.\nAbility to visually inspect parts, monitor equipment, and safely perform assigned duties.\nAbility to work in an industrial manufacturing environment that may
