Role
The Corporate Counsel is Acquisition.com 's day-to-day, first-line legal resource and the General Counsel's primary force multiplier. The advisory practice, live workshops and events, sales, marketing, operations, and the technology products that support them all bring their legal questions here first. This person answers most matters on their own, directs the paralegal and legal operations specialist to keep intake and contracts moving, and escalates to the General Counsel immediately when a matter calls for it.
This is a hands-on, high-volume role. Requests get picked up when they arrive, not queued. Nobody has to ask twice. The work stays excellent at that pace.
Responsibilities
Commercial & Corporate
Drafts, reviews, and negotiates agreements across the business, including vendor contracts, MSAs, NDAs, SOWs, sponsorship and partnership agreements, and event and venue contracts.
Carries a mixed docket of dozens of open matters across entities and business units, and re-prioritizes constantly without dropping anything.
Owns day-to-day privacy, data protection, and information security questions, including consent practices and vendor data terms. Escalates regulatory strategy to the General Counsel.
Supports the General Counsel on investment documents, diligence, and litigation matters (drafting, discovery, and outside counsel coordination) as needed.
Marketing & Sales Compliance
Reviews marketing, advertising, and sales materials for FTC Act Section 5 compliance, including testimonials, earnings claims, and required disclosures.
Advises sales on outbound calling and texting compliance, including the TCPA and state telemarketing rules.
Works with marketing, sales, and technology to keep improving the compliance program.
Legal Operations
Directs the paralegal and legal operations specialist, including workload, day-to-day priorities, and development.
Owns intake quality: scopes unclear requests up front and reframes the ask before work starts, not after.
Holds the same-day acknowledgment standard. Every request gets a response, an owner, and a realistic timeline, even when the full answer takes longer.
Maintains and improves templates, playbooks, and AI-assisted workflows so turnaround time keeps falling as volume grows.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Serves as the standing legal contact for internal teams, so they get fast answers without going through the general counsel.
Flags risk and negotiation leverage to procurement and business owners during vendor and partner discussions.
Reviews people operations forms, policies, and processes, with the general counsel as primary on anything ELT-sensitive.
Finds problems, owns them, and drives them to resolution.
Results
Intake runs on a defined process with clear SLAs. The business knows where to go and what to expect. Deadlines are met, and when a timeline has to move, the business hears about it early and knows why.
The general counsel is freed from day-to-day contract and tactical work to focus on litigation, regulatory strategy, and board-level matters.
Internal teams treat this role as their first call for legal questions, not a bottleneck.
Business leaders describe legal as fast, commercially practical, and worth looping in early. Legal is part of the conversation before signature, not after it.
The paralegal and legal operations specialist are clearly directed, growing, and working as one unit.
Requirements
J.D. and active bar membership in good standing.
3+ years of relevant experience, including in-house at a high-growth company, covering commercial contracts, compliance, corporate governance, and general business advising.
Hands-on experience with FTC Act Section 5 and advertising compliance. Experience with GDPR, CCPA, and the TCPA strongly preferred.
Experience running and improving legal operations: intake workflows, contract lifecycle management, matter tracking, or legal technology.
Experience directing paralegal or legal operations staff.
Background supporting advisory, professional services, events, or tech businesses preferred. Investment or fund exposure is a plus.
Uses AI and automation first, while knowing where human review is required.
Explains legal issues clearly to non-lawyers and builds trust across sales, operations, marketing, and vendor-facing teams.

Compensation
$158,000 - $238,000 base salary + 10% bonus
The salary range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including, level, relevant prior experience, skills, and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary, not benefits (more details below).
