The engagement is 12-months\nLocation: 1 Hampshire Road\nCOMPASS (Comprehensive Performance & Analytics for Bus Systems) is LTA's strategic analytics platform for bus operations. It consolidates data from fleet management systems, onboard devices, and operational platforms to provide actionable insights that support data-driven decision-making across LTA and public transport operators (PTO). As COMPASS continues to evolve, new initiatives are being developed to enhance bus operations through predictive maintenance and AI-enabled insights. These initiatives require enhancements across application development, system integration, data processing, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and platform operations.\nWhat the officer will be doing?\nResponsible for designing, building, and maintaining the server-side logic, databases, and APIs that power COMPASS platform, ensuring reliability, performance, and security:\nDesign and develop scalable, maintainable, and secure backend services, APIs and integration components.\nDesign and implement scalable microservices and distributed systems.\nIntegrate with upstream and downstream systems, devices, and data sources.\nManage and optimise relational and non-relational databases, including schema design, query optimisation, and data integrity.\nDevelop data processing, transformation, and analytics services.\nImplement application monitoring, logging, and observability features to support system reliability and operational troubleshooting.\nTroubleshoot and resolve application and integration issues to ensure service reliability and performance\nWork closely with frontend engineers, data teams, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.\nImplement authentication, authorisation, and other security best practices in backend systems.\nSupport testing, deployment, and production operations activities.\nWrite clean, well-documented, and testable code, and participate in peer code reviews.\nMaintain technical documentation and system design artefacts.\nParticipate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.\nCollaborate effectively with team members to deliver solutions and support knowledge sharing across the project team.\nRequirements\nWhat are we looking for?\nExperience in backend software development and building enterprise-grade applications\nStrong programming proficiency in at least one of:\no Python\no Node.js\no Java\nExperience designing and developing RESTful APIs andmicroservices, and backend integration services\nExperience with relational and NoSQL databases, including query optimisation, and data integrity management\nExperience working with message queues, event-driven architectures, and system integration.\nKnowledge of software design patterns, enterprise application architecture, and secure coding practices.\nExperience developing and deploying cloud-native application on AWS.\nFamiliarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.\nExperience with GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile software development practices.\nStrong debugging, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\nBenefits\nWhat do we offer in return?\nCompetitive Compensation: Market competitive salary and variable performance bonus aligned to your skills, impact, and contribution.\nBenefits: Outpatient medical, specialist medical coverage and generous customisable flexi benefits, or flexi allowance; life and health insurance, thoughtful perks like special occasions “red packet” and CNY goodies, etc.\nEmployee Wellness: Support for your physical, mental, and overall well-being through year-round initiatives.\nGrowth & Development: Learning programmes, certification support, and a dedicated staff development budget.
