Job Description Summary:

Catering Assistant Extra Care - Grade 2 - Pro Rata Salary £13,845.

This is a Part Time, Permanent position for 20 hours at Harrison Park.

Proposed Interview Date: 12th November 2026.

ROLE AND PURPOSE:

To undertake catering duties relating to the operation within Extra Care settings. To work under the general supervision of a cook. To maintain a clean, tidy and safe kitchen and dining environment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. To clean kitchen, dining areas and utility rooms under instructions of the cook using domestic cleaning equipment.

2. To assist in the preparation and service of food items and beverages and general cleaning duties. Working to maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, service and quality.

3. Maintain an organised, safe and hygienic working environment in accordance with current legislation and corporate polices. HACCP/Natasha’s Law legislation.

4. To operate the day-to-day computerised pre-payment till systems on site computer systems, kitchen cypad manager for all monitoring and procedures.

5. Clearing and cleaning of all service, preparation and eating areas, utensils and equipment. Contract cleaning rotas to be adhered to at all times.

6. To promote and safeguard the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults.

7. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated legislation places responsibilities for health and safety on Hull City Council, as your employer and you as an employee of the council. In addition to the Councils overall duties, the post holder has personal responsibility for their own health, safety and wellbeing and that of other employees; additional and more specific responsibilities are identified in the Council’s Corporate H&S policy.
