Visit us at www.acuityinc.com.\nJob Summary\nAcuity is seeking a Data Engineerto join the Digital Center of Excellence (DCoE) in Cork and build, test, deploy, and support data pipelines and curated datasets using Databricks and Azure Data Lake.\nThis is a hands-on engineering role working with senior engineers, architects, analysts, and business subject-matter experts to integrate enterprise data and make trusted information available for reporting, analytics, data science, AI, and downstream applications.\nKey Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)\nData Pipeline Development\nBuild and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks, Python/PySpark, SQL, Delta Lake, and Azure services.\nIngest data from databases, APIs, files, SaaS applications, and event sources using established batch or streaming patterns.\nDevelop bronze, silver, and gold datasets using reusable and configuration-driven engineering approaches.\nImplement incremental processing, schema handling, error handling, restorability, reconciliation, and audit controls.\nData Quality & Analytics Enablement\nApply data-quality rules, testing, lineage, and monitoring to support trusted data products.\nWork with architects, analysts, and business teams to understand source-to-target mappings, business rules, and acceptance criteria.\nCreate curated datasets for Power BI, enterprise reporting, analytics, data science, AI, and downstream applications.\nTune SQL, Spark workloads, storage, and table design with guidance from senior team members.\nAgile Delivery & Operations\nUse Git and Azure DevOps for user stories, branching, pull requests, CI/CD, releases, and traceability.\nCreate unit, integration, and reconciliation tests and participate in design and code reviews.\nMonitor production pipelines, resolve incidents, support root-cause analysis, and document operational procedures.\nContribute reusable components, documentation, and continuous improvements across the DCoE data team.\nSkills and Minimum Experience Required\n2+ years of hands-on data engineering or software engineering experience with data pipelines and data transformations.\nPractical experience with SQL and Python or PySpark.\nWorking knowledge of Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Delta Lake, or comparable cloud data technologies.\nUnderstanding of ETL/ELT, data integration, data-quality checks, and lakehouse or data-warehouse concepts.\nFamiliarity with Git, CI/CD, Agile delivery, and Azure DevOps or a comparable delivery tool.\nAbility to diagnose data and pipeline issues and work effectively with technical and business stakeholders.\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\nPreferred Skills and Experience\nPreferred Qualifications\nDatabricks or Microsoft Azure certification.\nExperience with Power BI consumption patterns, Unity Catalog, streaming, or metadata-driven frameworks.\nExperience with supply chain, manufacturing, ERP, operations, or industrial datasets.\nTools & Technologies\nEngineering: Databricks, Python/PySpark, SQL, Delta Lake\nData platform: Azure Data Lake, bronze/silver/gold lakehouse patterns\nQuality: unit, integration and reconciliation testing, lineage and monitoring\nDelivery: Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD and Agile practices\nSoft Skills\nStrong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.\nClear communication across technical and business audiences.\nA collaborative, ownership-focused approach to delivery.\nAbility to balance quality, speed, maintainability, and operational needs.\nCuriosity and willingness to learn from senior engineers, architects, analysts, and domain experts.\nThe compensation is $X EUR.
