Visit us at www.acuityinc.com.\nWork location:\nThis position requires on-site presence in Decatur, GA, following a hybrid work model.\nJob Summary\nLead the design and development of new healthcare lighting and patient-room solutions from concept through production launch.\nCollaborate with Product Management, Industrial Design, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, and Testing teams to deliver innovative products that meet customer and business needs.\nDevelop proof-of-concept models, prototypes, and test samples to rapidly evaluate and refine new ideas.\nPlan and execute product validation activities, including performance, reliability, safety, and usability testing.\nPartner with certification laboratories to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and product safety requirements.\nApply engineering fundamentals and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to create scalable, cost-effective solutions.\nWork closely with manufacturing and supply chain partners to support successful product launches.\nCommunicate technical risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders.\nLead technical development efforts for new products, platform expansions, and innovative features within the Nightingale portfolio.\nContinuously explore new design approaches that improve product performance and customer experience.\nKey Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)\nSkills\nEducation (minimum education required)\nPreferred Education (i.e. type of degree)\nSkills and Minimum Experience Required\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.\n5+ years of product development or design engineering experience.\nExperience developing products from concept through commercialization.\nProficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).\nExperience with prototype development, testing, and product validation.\nFamiliarity with manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, machining, castings, extrusions, and plastics.\nStrong problem-solving, communication, and project leadership skills.\nExperience with PLM systems and engineering change processes is preferred.\nAbility to travel as needed.\nThe range for this position is $85,700.00 to $120,000 USD. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
