The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Director is a pivotal position with the priority of successfully evaluating new and existing processes and configuring manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability, and develop best practices within processes throughout the supply chain. We invite you to apply and join our winning team and light the way to a brilliant, productive and connected world!\nKey Responsibilities\nNecessary Skills - How you will contribute:\nResponsible for leading and developing the AME NPI Automation team, including collaboration, directing, coordinating and exercising authority for planning, organization, leadership, and completion of projects. \nDevise strategies to ensure growth of NPI automation programs are enterprise-wide, identifying and implementing process improvements that will maximize output and minimize costs. \nCoordinate activities to achieve timely resolution to manufacturing autotomation problems and automation for new process launches. Launching at high statistical capability. \nFollow-up on permanent corrective action plans to resolve any outstanding issues related to quality, production, equipment, tooling, customers, and production controls.\nResearch and review industry trends and emerging technology advancements by attending trade shows, reading various trade publications, and working with vendors. \nBuild and maintain relationships with all department heads, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals. \nPlan and direct engineering activities for new equipment, mechatronic solutions, and business solutions to improve manufacturing methods for maximum efficiency and quality. \nResponsible for resolving engineering issues, escalated issues, and supports in the coordination with other departments.\nDevelop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the department.\nMonitors progress against project schedules and budgets; recommends allocation of resources as required to accomplish goals. \nResponsible for reviewing machine capacity models and providing recommendations/solutions for capacity shortfalls.\nMonthly reporting of departmental KPI metrics.\nLead and participate in AYI BSF (Kaizen) events to improve ABL processes.\nSupervisory Responsibilities:\nWork closely with human resources to lead team with integrity and establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment.\nAct as a resource for colleagues and managers with less experience.\nProvide coaching and guidance to AME team members and managers to solve complex problems.\nResponsible for interviewing, hiring and training employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.\nCharacteristics of Director Level:\nProvides leadership to managers and professional staff.\nIs accountable for the performance and results of multiple related teams.\nDevelops departmental plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities.\nDecisions are guided by resource availability and organizational objectives.\nEstimate resource requirements and balance workload assignment for the team.\nSupervise team to execute and deliver products within approved timelines and budget.\nMinimum Requirements\nMinimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering and/or Engineering Technology or equivalent field.\n10+ years of experience in the manufacturing industry with a major focus on Automation Design and Deployment.\n10+ years management experience preferred, with technical leadership skills for problem solving and conflict resolution and organization alignment on all things \"Automation\".\nJob Requirements:\nExtensive knowledge of engineering practices and principles as well as understanding scientific methods of problem solving around Automation.\nDemonstrated ability with cost analysis, product design methods, interpersonal skills and the ability to integrate all of these skills to a productive cost-effective result.\nExcellent program and project management skills with a sense of urgency and strong document management while influencing the greater organization.\nExcellent analytical skills including the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, process, change and improve design and equipment.\nExperience and knowledge of Lean Principles, Lean Cell Design, Kaizen, and demonstrated ability in continuous improvement.\nStrong presentation, written and verbal skills.\nAble to communicate ideas and recommendations to non-engineer team members in a clear manner.\nProfessional/ mature demeanor under stressful conditions.\nMust be competent with CAD systems,\nTravel Requirements\n21-40%\nWe value diversity and are an equal opportunity employer.
