BUILD program is a two-year rotational experience that develops high-potential early career talent into impactful professionals through hands-on experience. BUILD participants rotate to a different functional area every six months to build business acumen and skill proficiency. Upon completion of BUILD, participants will have developed broad business understanding, functional expertise, and the professional skills needed to contribute in future career opportunities across Acuity.\nBUILD is designed for early-career talent who are curious, adaptable, and motivated to grow through hands-on experience. Successful participants demonstrate strong learning agility, communication skills, ownership, critical thinking, and a willingness to seek feedback, solve problems, and contribute in a fast-paced environment. BUILD participants are expected to take an active role in their development while building the business, professional, and technical skills needed for future career opportunities at Acuity.\nThis role is Hybrid and based in Atlanta, GA, and starts employment on July 12, 2027.\nBuild participants also participate in personal growth activities to enhance business acumen, including:\nSpecialized onboarding for all participants to ensure integration into the organization and program.\nOne-on-one mentorship from a Software Engineering leader for the duration of the program (and beyond).\nSocial and networking events to forge connections with peers and leaders across the business.\nFrequent opportunities to collaborate with program peers to learn about various business processes and initiatives.\nLeadership report-out meetings to share rotational learnings and performance reviews to identify strengths and areas for growth.\nKey Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)\nKey Responsibilities\nSoftware Development - design, build, test, and enhance scalable software applications with exposure to:\nFront-end development using React or similar frameworks to create intuitive, intelligent user experiences\nBack-end development using technologies such as C#, Node.js, and related platforms to power business applications, APIs, and AI-enabled services\nDevOps & Site Reliability Engineering including CI/CD pipelines, containers, service deployment, system observability, and production support\nDevOps Engineering - support software delivery automation, release management, infrastructure reliability, and engineering efficiency across the development lifecycle\nCloud Software Engineering - build and support cloud-native applications, services, and platforms that enable scalable, secure, and resilient software and AI workloads\nSoftware Quality Assurance - contribute to test strategy, automation, quality engineering, and validation practices to ensure reliable, high-performing software solutions\nAI-Enabled Software Development - partner with teams to incorporate AI capabilities such as intelligent automation, copilots, predictive features, and data-driven decision support into software products and internal tools\nAdditional Software Development Rotations - gain experience across other engineering teams and emerging technologies based on business needs and participant development goals\nSustaining / VAVE - support ongoing product enhancement, maintenance, value analysis, and value engineering efforts to improve performance, efficiency, quality, and long-term business value\nSkills and Minimum Experience Required\nEducation (minimum education required)\nBachelor of Science\nBachelor of Arts\nSkills and Minimum Experience Required\n0 to 2 years of applicable work experience \nIntermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite \nPreferred Skills and Experience\nPreferred Education (i.e. type of degree)\nBachelor of Science\nBachelor of Arts in Computer Science or Information Technology\nPreferred Skills and Experience\nThe best candidates are:\nFamiliarity with Agile software development, roadmaps, and user story writing \nExposure to AI or emerging technologies through coursework, research, or internships \nProven innovative problem-solvers \nAgents for change \nExperienced leaders of people and processes \nExcellent with time management \nComfortable with taking initiative \nTeam-oriented \nExcellent written and verbal communicators \nThe range for this position is $56,900.00 to $102,500.00 USD. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
