Engineers who understand how switches and routers work beneath the configuration layer are essential to designing effective tests and diagnosing failures.\n\nAbout the Role:\n\nYou will join a distributed Automation and QA team as an individual contributor, owning test work from feature discussions through planning, implementation, review, and ongoing maintenance. You will work closely with developers and other engineering stakeholders to understand new networking features and turn their requirements into reliable Python-based automated tests.\n\nThe role combines feature validation with ownership of the infrastructure that supports it. You will improve automation libraries and tools, integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, investigate execution failures, and reuse existing code where appropriate. Team members review CI results and take responsibility for failures in the areas they know. The position requires independent work in a remote setting, alongside clear communication and collaboration across teams. Critical issues or release periods may occasionally require work outside normal hours.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDefine test plans, test cases, and validation procedures for new networking features.\n\nDevelop and maintain Python-based automated tests and the libraries that support them.\n\nDesign and improve test automation infrastructure, tools, and processes.\n\nWork with developers and other stakeholders to clarify feature behavior and test requirements.\n\nValidate Layer 2 and Layer 3 functionality on physical and virtual switches and routers.\n\nIntegrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and improve the reliability of their execution.\n\nReview test results, investigate failures, and distinguish product defects from automation or environment issues.\n\nDebug automation execution issues and maintain tests as features and hardware generations evolve.\n\nReuse existing infrastructure and code where it provides a sound basis for new tests.\n\nDocument and communicate findings so that issues can be followed through to resolution.\n\nRequired Competence and Skills:\n\n5+ years of hands-on experience in networking-focused engineering, with deep knowledge of switch or router functionality beyond device configuration.\n\nExperience developing and troubleshooting Python-based test automation and its supporting infrastructure.\n\nStrong understanding of L2 and L3 networking, including switching, routing, and protocols or features such as VLANs, forwarding, ACLs, quality of service, and tunneling.\n\nExperience working with physical and virtual L2/L3 switches or routers.\n\nWorking knowledge of Linux and CI/CD methodology and tools.\n\nAbility to investigate complex, low-level failures, identify root causes, and drive issues to resolution.\n\nClear, structured communication and the ability to work independently while sharing knowledge and supporting cross-functional partners.\n\nNice to Have:\n\nExperience reading or programming in C or C++ to investigate the software under test.\n\nExperience with Docker, Ansible, or Vagrant.\n\nExperience with networking test equipment or relevant professional networking certifications.\n\nWhy Us:\n\nWe
