The Engineering Technician will perform multiple 3D printing functions including the maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic quality analysis for our plastics printing operation.\nRequirements\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:\nSet up, operate, and monitor 3D printers including related support equipment.\nUnderstand root cause of printer downtime issues and implement self-sustaining systems to maximize uptime. \nDrive down scrap on all 4210 printers using the DMAIC process. \nOptimize preventative maintenance and set plant-wide standards. \nProvide thorough documentation of common issues and methods in which we solve them. \nPerform basic inspection operations with digital calipers, micrometers, etc. to validate 3d printer set ups and operations.\nPerform and/or support preventative maintenance of machines and cleaning of the equipment and surrounding area(s).\nParticipate in lean six sigma projects to enhance quality and improve operational performance (OEE). Explore and offer new methods and concepts for continual improvement efforts.\nMaintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas (5S).\nSupport inventory control, material receiving, and shipping-related activities.\nPromote a positive work environment\nMaintain a safe work environment\nOther duties, tasks, and responsibilities that may be assigned at any time.\nSKILL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:\nSelf-motivated and able to complete multiple assigned tasks in a timely manner while achieving quality workmanship.\nStrong organizational, mechanical, and analytical problem-solving skills.\nAttention to detail in use of hand tools, automated equipment, digital (computerized) procedures, and production workflows.\nAbility to perform visual inspection and measuring tasks on simple to complex geometries to determine product quality.\nAbility to solve problems to identify and eliminate root causes of issues with product quality.\nMaintain part inspection/production reports, consumable inventory, organize files, maintenance logs, and part tracking system through multiple operations steps.\nAbility to follow detailed instructions, both written and verbal, on complex tasks.\nAbility to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external customers.\nProficiency with Microsoft Excel / Office applications required.\nProficiency with typical 3D CAD packages a plus.\nKnowledge of 3D printer operation and maintenance preferred\nHigh School Diploma or recognized equivalent required.\nAssociate’s degree or two years of completed coursework in industrial design, engineering, or related technical field preferred.\n3D Printing operation experience preferred, not required.\nDue to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. Citizenship or Valid Permanent Resident status is required.\nValid driver’s license required to drive fork truck.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nThe performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where all areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and other mandatory safety equipment.\nWork is performed in a research/light-production environmentally controlled environment.\nExposure to dust and powder metal/plastic particles will require use of a respirator. \nOccasional exposure to coolants or lubricating solutions, moving machinery, heat, compressed air, and electrical power. \nPersonal protective equipment is required when performing specific tasks in production areas.\nExposed to repetitive use of fingers, hands and arms.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nAbility to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8-10 hours per shift) on a manufacturing floor \nFrequent use of hands for handling, sanding, polishing, grinding, and finishing parts \nAbility to lift, carry, push, and/or pull materials weighing up to 25-50 pounds, with or without assistance \nFrequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching \nManual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required to operate finishing tools and equipment \nAbility to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing \nAbility to work in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to dust, fumes, noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures \nAbility to distinguish colors, finishes, and surface defects as needed for quality inspection \nSufficient vision (with or without correction) to inspect detailed parts and surfaces \nAbility to safely operate finishing equipment such as grinders, sanders, bead blasters, or similar tools\nSAFETY AND POLICY PRACTICES:\nEach employee must be knowledgeable of standard safety policies and procedures and adhere to the same while supporting the goals and objectives of the organization and recognizing the Company’s need to achieve its business objectives.
