The Quality Engineer will help drive continual improvement across all manufacturing and system processes by participating in day-to-day plan activities involving root cause/corrective action, problem solving, ensuring compliance to customer requirements, project reviews, MRB disposition, timely closures of NCRs, RMA resolution, PPAPs, FMEAs, and training.\nRequirements\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:\nSupport maintenance and continual improvement of the AS9100 / ISO13485 quality management system.\nLead supplier quality investigations and coordinate supplier corrective actions requests (SCARS) as necessary.\nReview and support disposition activities related to CARs, NCRs, MRBs, RMAs, FAIRs, source inspections, and validation efforts. \nEnsure quality control procedures, standards and specifications are up to date and meet the requirements of applicable industry standards.\nAnalyzing complex manufacturing and product quality issues to determine root causes and implement effective corrective actions.\nWork with Program Management on Interpreting engineering specifications, regulatory requirements, and implementing customer requirements.\nWork alongside the engineering & operation departments to create PFMEAs, DOE, PPAP, APQP, for customers and programs.\nIdentify and implement opportunities to reduce waste, improve process capability, increase efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives. \nDesign, develop, and implement quality control systems and continuous improvement initiatives.\nExercise independent judgment in evaluating data, processes, and compliance risks.\nReview process data, KPIs, customer complaints, NCRs, & CAPAs to identify areas & processes that would benefit from yellow belt or green belt projects. \nCollaborate cross-functionally with department leaders to drive continuous improvement initiatives, support CAPA implementation and effectiveness, promote 6S practices, and strengthen quality system compliance through process improvements and training. \nSupport the Quality leadership team in ensuring compliance with applicable standards, including AS9100D, ISO9001, ISO13485, IATF16949, and customer-specific requirements.\nWork alongside current inspection staff to provide guidance & training on inspection practice and improvements.\nProvide data reports/trend analysis/KPI data as needed by quality and department managers.\nResearch new technologies and methods that would improve efficiency, reduce labor, reduce scrap.\nWork alongside the operations teams to assist in documenting processes. \nProvide support during customer calls, visits, audits, & complaints.\nPlan, conduct, and lead internal process audits and support customer, certification body, and regulatory audits.\nExercising independent judgment in evaluating data, processes, and compliance risks.\nLead cross-functional problem-solving efforts and make recommendations that impact product quality and business operations.\nMaintain a safe work environment.\nPromote a positive work environment. \nPerform other duties, responsibilities, and tasks as assigned or required to support the needs of the organization. \nSKILL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and at least 8 years of Quality Engineering experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.\nExpert knowledge of AS9100D and AS9102 requirements.\nDemonstrated experience with MRB, CAPA, RCA, FAIRs, customer audits and supplier quality.\nStrong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings.\nExperience leading cross-functional root cause investigations.\nProficiency with SPC, MSA, process validation, and risk management techniques.\nU.S. aerospace manufacturing experience preferred.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nThe performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where all areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and other mandatory safety equipment.\nFor the most part, ambient temperatures are climate controlled due to production requirements\nThis role regularly operates in a manufacturing environment with exposure to airborne powders and particulates.
